gougers

If I have something you want/need and you cant find it anywhere else you will either pay my price or go without...such is life, be is gas, gold or ammo.

...and unless it's life saving medicine for my children, or food fo a diabetic family member, then I'll do without. I believe in kharma, and those who can't see the benefit of sharing, or even charity, deserve neither when it's their turn to be in need. ;)

Folks your adults. Quit your crying about ammo prices. You can still find ammo at reasonable prices if you are willing to work for it.

As for gouging its not. We are talking about ammo for a hobby not food, water, fuel, medicine or shelter that you need for survial so its not gouging.

Owners have a right to offer their property for sale at any price they want. Buyers are free to buy at that price, or not.

This talk that sellers have an obligation to sell at x% above purchase price is also wrong because their purchase price is irrelevant. What matters is the price they would have to pay to replenish their stock.

Bull Hockey. If I have life-saving medicine for your family member, I will probably give it to you if I don't need it for my own.

I ain't "sharing" or doling out "charity" to people I know could have hoarded just as much ammo as I have over the last 25 years. Yessir, I have hoarded it. I have told a couple of close friends/acquaintances I will give them one brick of .22 for their kids if they will just pay me back brick for brick when things get back to normal. That is just repaying some favors they have done for me.

I am working a trade now where I can get about $30 a brick for .22 lr I paid $12.50 for 6 years ago. My good fortune. I had the foresight to buy it then. About 20K rounds.

Things go in a boom & bust cycle. I remember years ago a toilet paper craze that brought scores of people buying cart loads of the stuff. Now it's ammo & guns. After this craze is over maybe things might get back to normal. A least I hope so. I went to my gun shop today & he's out of everything, guns & ammo. Had some Russian 762x54 stuff that looked like from WW2. tied up in paper wrappers with string.I wouldn't touch it with 10 foot pole. God Bless America.

No one has gouged me because I refuse to pay artificialy inflated prices due to a feeding frenzy. On the other hand, if I owned a gun or ammo that stooopid or panicked people were willing to pay twice or three times the reasonable price for, I'd sell it to them.

Jealously and envy of what other have is an ugly sight.

Everyone knows what happens around the 1st week in November every four years.

I haven't been affected by any shortages. If I had any ammo to sell I'd put it up for auction.

The term "Gouge" or any version of it is so misused today.

No one owes us ammo at cheap prices. Competition controls the price in a free market.

Just wait till a wheelbarrow full of greenbacks won't get you a loaf of bread.

Complaining, bellyaching, name calling, etc, about ammo, well it's gonna seem mighty trivial when tough times do hit.

Its a beautiful day. The sun is up but filtered. Forecast is for 54 and the same as its starting now. After a week of rain, it'd be a good day to go shooting (I'm heading to the Horse Park instead). If I was stupid and hadn't planned in advance, I'd be paying the asking price for a day's shooting.

But then I've even given some ammo away. To my oldests FIL, and to my oldest. I was sorting thru my meager supply and discovered a bunch of orphaned ammo. So I'm giving some, selling some, and keeping just a little for me. :) I have absolutely no guilt feelings about it.

I'll give someone the shirt off my back, but you let them act as if I owe them something and I'd eat it before letting them get their hands on it.

There's no better feeling than making someone else's day with a gift.

I can ruin someone's day if they act like I owe them something.

People are making a lot of assumptions about others, I guess they always will? My motives for my actions are generally only known to me.

Keep in mind that the real culprit is government meddling in areas where they should not, creating uncertainty where none should exist.

So.... while gun owners bicker amongst themselves over who is a gouger and hoarder, and brag about being prepared while criticizing others for not... govt gun grabbers are having a good laugh.

how do you feel about the current state of affairs? I feel we as responsible gun owners should boycott, refuse to buy and call out those who are trying to decimate us by selling ANYTHING at stupid inflated prices. LGS had 525 federal for $80, offered $40 and was laughed at. Oh well. If we stop buying, then supply goes up and demand goes down and prices go down. Capitalism at its finest!

Decimate us? Who exactly is attempting to kill one in ten while selling goods?

The prices are the prices. They become stupid when folks stop paying them. Until that time the prices are "fair market".

Phil, criticizing those who are not prepared (and who by the way are calling those of us who are prepared "hoarders") is an effort to nudge them into becoming prepared the next time this happens.

And it will happen again.

And the usual suspects will be unprepared.

Again.

And so it goes...

True dat.^^

If you didn't have an "ammo plan" before, you better get one.;)

No need to call out these folks; capitalism is alive and well....but I do draw the line when it comes to buying a magazine with an MSRP of $25.00 being sold for $125.00; that one I'll never forget, or ever do business with.;)

It's only sold if someone buys it. At that point it was a situation where a willing buyer met the price offered by a willing seller. No coercion or delusion involved, just simple commerce.

Buy or do not buy. Sell or do not sell.

It's nothing personal.

Be it at the gun store, gun show or this forum, if I encounter someone who is asking outrageous prices, I laugh to myself and move on. If they find someone stupid enough to pay their price, god bless them.
As I have said in other post, I got completely flat footed on 22LR ammo, a whole 60 some rounds, so sad too bad on my part. I am just going to wait it out. I have enough centerfire rifle and pistol to shoot, and enough primers to reload, but I am cutting back on shooting until I know I can reasonably replace them.
