Try "Full Nelson" from Blue Mountain Brewery not far from Nellysford. You'll be glad you did. It is quite hoppy with a kind of grapefruit finish typical of Cascade hops.

Went tonight for dinner to a new place that had none of my usual beers like Heineken, Corona or Stella...checked out the menu and never heard of any of them actually....waitress recommended this one...gotta say...it was real nice...

Any of you ever try it?

I have some grassfed NY Strips for this evening. Not sure what to pair with it--a good stout or ale...or Malbec or Cabernet.

I put those all in the category of "barleypop fizzwater". I always go for a local brew given the chance.


No, the color in the glass won't "leak into the beer". However, green and clear glass doesn't block light that causes "skunking" of the beer.

Why yes it is....one of the few beers I can truly call light and crisp with just that hint of strawberry on the finish.

Really good after a day of pulling weeds or at the end of a day on the beach. Good stuff.

I had a Mama's when I was in Denver a few months ago. A little too hoppy for me. What I found was my new favorite… Agave Wheat!!

After watching the documentary "Beer Wars", I will never drink anything made by Anheuser-Busch, Miller, and Coors. The monopoly these brewers have & influence they have through lobbying is outrageous. Makes it nearly impossible for any micro brews to get their product to the consumers. Federal law mandates distributers must transport the beer from the brewery to the consumer, and guess who owns the distributors?

We have tons of micro breweries in Michigan, most of the stuff tastes like flowers to me.
Shiner is an excellent brewery. I like all their products.

Oskar Blues...

...Makes some really good beer, including their Pilsener. It's famous for being the first microbrewed beer to be "bottled" in cans, thanks to those tree hugging Coloradans.

Wifie and I visited their place in Lyons, CO, last year on vacation and enjoyed sampling their other beers, too, including my favorite, Dale's Pale Ale, a really nicely balanced, "all rounder."

Here in NC, we are truly blessed with GREAT breweries, so I prefer to "keep it local."

Seems like every state that has good water, ingredients and folks with know-how can provide the experience you shared. Now you know how good beer in this country used to taste. You can't go back...lol.

There are some fantastic breweries in CA. If you like the Pilsener style, one that's GREAT in the summer, try the one from Lagunitas. An award winner, it's made up in Petaluma, or however you spell that. Those of us in the East coast can enjoy a nice one from Victory up in PA.

Another vote for Fat Tire Beer from Ft. Collins Colorado.

Fat Tire is good stuff, and my father has become a big fan of their 1554 black ale. I've really taken a liking to New Belgium's spring seasonal, 'Dig'. Hoppy, but not overpowering like some IPAs can be. Very drinkable, a good "session beer" as they call it on beeradvocate.com.
