Gun Control

When folks start talking about gun laws, I politely bring up that last year around 6000 people were killed while texting. I feel for safety we need to ban texting as to many people are killed by a few texting nuts. If we cant ban texting we need to do something. Perhaps if we change phone design to limit phones to ten buttons. No one needs more than ten buttons on a phone, thats 0-9 more than enough for any phone. I also add in that texting isnt a right and not under the constitution.

Next I bring up what we need is "common sense regulation" ( I don't like that term) on freedom of the press. (This takes away their breath and they start gasping.) We need to be sure that the press is fair and based on facts. When big NY newspapers print that things are Sara Palins fault or Bush lied and General betrayus, to many folks thinks its true and start parroting it. So we just need common sense controls to protest everyones safety. Since we can limit constitutional rights, it seems as if this is needed regulation, think of the children...

Heres a prime example while we need to ban texting. Just imagine her behind the wheel, cant even walk.

Hofstet,

Thanks for the link, definitely an interesting take on gun control legislation.

wheelgun28 is right on the point. Texting and cell phone use is very dangerous and our country needs to take a very serious look at cell phone and texting control. Troy, MI already has and other communities need to follow that city's example. It would make our streets safer!

It's not just texting, people are walking around with these little Blackberry and Droid things that are basically handheld computers.......driving while bidding on seat covers for their VW Beetle, tuning their satellite radio and smoking a Marlboro Ultra Light and BAM they just killed someone......

One day, we will all drive around in electric micro cars that are tracked by satellite, and if you speed a ticket will pop out of the dashboard........, and we will all take mood altering pills to make us all happy all the time (wait, don't we do this already?)........had a bad day at work, go to the doctor and get some Prozac.......then text all your freinds about it. Glocks will be "antiques" and any kind of gun will need a "Green" metal and toxin free cartridge, that self consumes and doesn't hurt the environment. Rounds will be $400 a piece and you will be limited to 50 a year, to shoot out of your gun that uses hand geometry and will not shoot if it detects you're in a bad mood, not on "your meds" or texting......

Gun control

My definition of Gun Control: The "theory" that a woman found dead in an alley raped and strangled, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

Don't forget, most of the anti-gun politicos have CCW permits.....it's just us, the peon unwashed masses, who "aren't fit" to own guns in their eyes.

You can be damn sure if there was some magical liberal handgun ban, the VIP's would still be getting whatever they need.

yes this is the hypocrisy that may ultimately spur individuals(maybe even groups) to desperate measures. we saw it with obomacare, it's good for us but not obama and his stooges. the town hall meetings highlighted their utter disregard for us. I keep thinking of emelda marcos(the shoe lady) when she referred to the citizenry of the phillipines as "the little people". is there any difference here? remember the last straw for "baby doc" was the televised parties of the "elites". anybody that doesn't see parallels with our so called representatives here is living in a fantasy.

The proposed 28th Amendment

Step 1. Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.
Step 2. Term limits. Electable to two terms of three years, both houses and state offices, never able to sit that position again.
Step 3. Congressional wages. Congressional wages shall be that of a serving officer in the United States Military. First 18 months of term, lieutenant wages, 2nd 18 months at Captains (Army, Air Force, Marine equivalent) wages. If reelected, 3rd 18 months at Majors wages and last 18 months at Colonel wages. Not enough money for the elitist you say? Good because we want our country back. We need to put honesty and common sense back into OUR government.
Just my $.02.

it's really a question of could the average citizen raising a family survive on said income? but how about this?

in order to run a candidate must have at least one immediate family member that is currently serving or has served in the past in any branch of the military. you can go back no further than 3 generations. I'm guessing that would eliminate quite a few?

So true, my ultra liberal Congressman, the one that compared Republicans talking about Obamacare to Goebbels, said he was getting a carry permit after Tucson.

I'd consider that, great reply and good thinking. :D
