Went to the show in Lafayette. Some thoughts:
Saw and handled the new Kimber 6 shot 357. I LIKE!! Great feel, love the trigger-sights are great size is good. Price $850. Have absolutely NO USE WHATSOEVER for this gun. If the price was $650-I'd buy it
Beat up model 28 for $875..but it's rare; like the 520 with incorrect style box for $1495-and it looks rode hard. The pitiful few other revolvers were filthy and wayyyyy over priced.
Rare (again that word) Victory model 38 for $975. Had pythons under glass that cost more than I paid for a semester of Law School at Loyola.
The only new revolvers were J frame Smiths and lots of RUgers Got to handle a Redhawk snubby in .44 that felt pretty good-much better than the Alaskan. The new GP100 in .22 was nice but not for me. No SP101's in .22 which I think is a better choice. ASeveral 3" GP100's in .357. The Ruger revolvers were pricey-the Smith J frames mostly 442's were reasonable
Lots of tupperware with suprisingly good prices. Got to handle the Shield .45 and will be buying one-it has all the new cosmetics as the new M&P II's. Really like the agressive stippling. Asked for a price break from the guy with the best prices if I bought a Shield 9 and Shield .45 and got a sneer. ^*&% him. I'll get it on line for cheaper even with the transfer.
Tons of AR's got to handle the Saint and really liked it as is with the furniture. If I get an AR this will probably be the one I'll buy.
LOTS of 1911's esp Colts.
Got to handle the 669 4.2 " and really liked the feel. What I DON'T like is the black accents on the gun (screws and thumb piece)
Got to handle the new Ruger MkIV's and to tell the truth wasn't really impressed. The safety looked cheap-which made the gun look cheap. I've got a MK III and have never had any problems taking them apart and putting them back together so I guess I don't need a MK IV.
Was impressed with the Ruger LCP's and (mm's. Nicely made weapons and to tell the truth felt better in my hand than the shields. Had an LCP for $199 but I already have an M&P380. The Purple Mk IV 22/44 was Purdy but again already have a MK II 22/45
I think man buns look stupid on skinny young men with scraggy beards and dark brown hair. They look REALLY stupid of overweight Seniots with grey hair. Ditto on the spider tats on the calves.
All in all a pleasant way to piss away a Saturday afternoon and handle in the flesh some of the guns that I might purchase.
If I had to pick a star of the show it would be the Kimber.
The best thing is that I left with the knowledge that my collection whats I already got ain't too shabby after all
