I just purchased my first ar, m&p 15 sport. The first thing I want to change is the handguard. I like the looks of the quad rail free float designs, but don't feel comfortable yet in having to remove the front site or the delta ring. Does anyone make a drop in 2piece that's fits my need?
If not, I leaning towards the magpul moe, with the angled grip. I just like the looks of it compared to the vertical grip.

If you look on eBay for Omega Tactical they make a well made Quadrail for a very good price. There are more than a few people on the forum that have them. Plus they are outstanding if you have an issue with their product.

Love my Magpul (MOE) handguard. Looks good on my Sport and it feels great in my hand. But that is my opinion. There are other great ideas on this forum that will come along that will help you decide. Congrads on your new Sport.;)

Congrats on the Sport. I run the MOE on 2 of my ARs. Nice, light, easy to install alternative to the stock handguard. The Omega rail is another easy drop in option. As for the AFG, it's definitely not for everyone. I went that route and pulled it off after 2 range trips. Went with a VFG with bipod for my kid's 15-22 instead. Good luck finding what feels right.

Welcome to the M&P-15. Lots of manufacturers make what your looking for. You can do a google search or look around on sites like amazon, brownells, ebay, etc., and find one you like that fits your needs and price range.
Good luck, stay safe and happy hunting.

+1 on this and you can add short pieces of Picatinny rail to it as you wish to mount bipod, light, etc.

Sorry guys the MOE is a nice handguard, makes every rifle look like an airsoft gun LOL jk! anyway he asked about a quadrail and the MOE is anything but.

So true, but he still brought up the idea of a Magpul MOE hand guard. I'd just figured I steer him that way if he thought it was useful. As for airsoft, my airsoft can pack a punch LOL.:D

If you really want free float handguards then you'll need to take off the delta ring, front sight, and the front ring that holds the front of the current handguard. There are a number of drop in handguards that you can get to replace the current ones but they are not free float.

Have you seen Midwest Industries 2-piece free-float handguards? They claim that you don't need to remove the front sight or barrel and that installation is very quick. You do, however, have to "cut off" the delta ring.

The Magpul is a good choice! Congrats on your new rifle! :D

No, you do NOT have to remove the delta ring, front sight, etc. in order to install a free floating quad rail. The Daniel Defense Omega 7.0 requires none of that and is free floating. Here is the Omega 7.0 install I did on my M&P15OR.

Looks good arizona. Haven't seen that before, thanks.
I bet it requires mucho deniro!

What size handguard does the MP Sport need, I just bought one myself. Carbine or Mid length? Thanks in advance.

Arizona, does that handguard touch the front retaining cap? From the pictures it looks like it does. Just wondering. Is it the style that bolts through the barrel nuts little holes and has retaining caps behind the barrel nut?

If it touched the front retaining cap, it wouldn't be free floating. No, it doesn't. :) And I appreciate the fact that DD made sure there was not a big gap.

I put a link to the Omega 7 install in a previous post in this thread....did you read it? Just wondering as I thought most of your questions would have been answered in the write-up.
