Has Your Position/Mind Ever Been Changed...

Sure! This forum and the Colt forum have been especially informative.

Yeah, I saw that movie... What was it... Oh yeah, Brokeback Mountain. I think it was about fishing or something. Made me think that fishing might be okay. That was what that was about wasn't it? Two guys going fishing or something. I might have dozed off and missed a part or two.

Sure, occasionally. What would be the point of participating in a wide ranging discussion forum like this one, with questions asked and answered, if you weren't prepared to change your opinion on some topic or another? Of course any opinions expressed here, by me, are sacrosanct and unimpeachable...

So true. If the issue at hand is value based, no, I will not compromise those beliefs. If I just have opinions on a subject, well, have it...if it makes sense, I'll go along with you.

I think what I enjoy the most here is getting a different perspective from all sorts of folks. They may not change my mind but I always learn something when I hear dissenting opinion. I like to know where someone is "coming from" so to speak. If you are truly secure in what you believe (core beliefs), then there is no reason to be intimidated/angry by another believing something else. I see lots of angry, hostile responses here that make me think that the angered party has some deep doubts and they, not the dissenting opinion are the source of the anger. Lots of interesting folks with much to contribute abound here. Life is too short to agree with everyone. (o;

I hope so. Sometimes someone has more facts, or more accurate facts, and once considered, leads to a change of opinion.

Then there are those topics where you are just set in your ways.

All the time.
And much more so now, with more miles on my odometer. And many times of late due to advice received right here!

I don't think I've ever changed an opinion, but maybe moderated a few, some.

I know what I believe and why, and what I have found is that taking part in and reading these discussions has caused me to be a bit less quick to make snap judgments and to consider other angles and viewpoints.

Although I may not change my basic opinion or belief I probably have at times softened my position somewhat. Likewise, when confronted by people who just don't get it but insist on sharing their diarrhea of the mouth with the whole world ad nauseum, I likely have gotten more resolved on a topic or two.

I think everyone changes their opinions from time to time.

Before I joined this forum, I loved the IL!

More than everyone else put together, my wife has changed my opinions! Well, at least I have changed my actions, maybe not because I thought different! I used to be a big time gambler. Obama has also changed my opinion on the wisdom of that. This last two or three months is the longest I ever have not gone to a casino!
And amen to truckmeup, my core values, likes and dislikes havent changed a whit since I was a boy. My "tolerance" has mellowed with my age.
