Have all M&P Issues been resolved?

My M&P9, purchased about a year ago has been flawless.
I bought one of the frist M&P40's that hit the market. I have had NO troubles with it at all.
I got a M&P45 this summer. Shot just fine, but was sent back due to finnish issues in the slide. Both are great guns and I can't wait to add the M&P9 to the safe.

I have a full size 9, my wife has a 9 Compact that we have owned for 18 months. Both have over 1500 rounds through them without a failure of any kind. My only complaint is that my front sight was off-center from the factory...which I corrected myself.

Same here. I didn't like the weak finish and light stamping. So they said they would replace it.
Otherwise, it and my 9-compact have performed at 100%.

SWAT Lt- we put X00 M&P40's in service starting transition training in March, 2006. None of the malfunctions you cited. Average scores are up over TDA weapons, officer acceptance outstanding, goodly number bought weapons of their own.
I bought the M&P9 for personal use, think it's a bettter service pistol for the average officer. The more highly skilled officer will do well with it also.

We have four M7Ps so far.... a full size 9, 2x 9c, 1 .45.
All of them have been flawless... and the compacts are the best shooting 9mms I have ever owned... I just can't seem to miss with them.
You need to keep the reports of problems in perspective... a very few guns had problems... and they were promptly resolved... the M&P is a mass produced item, like Glunks, SIGs, Springfields et. al. From time to time one isn't perfect (though seriousl I wish my 07 Tahoe was as perfect as my M&P pistols)the real question is how does the maker take care of the odd problem... and with S&W that is very well indeed. Based on observed serial numbers S&W has made over 300,000 of these already... and a few problems should be expected...

Flawless in every regard on all three of my M&P full size 9mm,40 & 45 each has over 3k rnds expended. Actually they keep getting better and better! The .40 gets the most use in USPSA and IDPA shoots in the local area. A number of Glock shooters in Montana & Idaho are now using M&P's due to a variety of reasons. Made in USA is one of the more compelling and the fact that they perform!doesn't hurt that they can fit almost anyone as well.

About a year ago there were a rash of M&P 9mm's that were having FTE issues that had a number of them going back to the factory. I know of at least one shop that sent 4 back, all for the same trouble. a couple shops in Topeka, three in the KC area and one north of Salina that I know of.
I suspect that since most of the gunshops around here use the same wholesaler (Simmons) I'm assuming it was likely a bad batch. It happens but S&W is pretty good about fixing them.

If you listed a city and state in your profile someone near there might be able to suggest a place to try an M&P and then you can judge for yourself. It's not bad to "test drive" one before you buy it...
First, let me say that I and a dyed in the wool wheelgunner, and rarely post in the self-loading pistol section I suppose for the same reason. If you want to end FTE's and jams, might I suggest a revolver!

Being a hunter, target shooter, and a bit of experimenter myself, I think there are some good questions that need to be asked to see where you are coming from and how best to answer your question.
Tell us a little bit more about how or why this question came up? Was it from internet, friends, or personal experience with the pistols? What's the situation on your experience with the M&P? Elaborate a bit more...it's much eaisier to help you out if you give us more information as to the background of the question above.
If you are looking for positive on the M&P, here you will find it. Is there some problems out there- I am certain that the laws of averages out there are in it's favor considerably. If you go to any other forum that has a concentration on any other gunmaker I am also certain that you could possibly find more "cons" that "pros" (call it politics if you will).
So far, there have been nearly a dozen pro-M&P posts here, with a few problems of "asthetics" noted and a fence sitter or two. I could add that I am happy with my M&P's which have been flawless...which I do now, but that may not help until you give us some background.
If anyone thinks I've left anything out, please let me know.

I've had an M&P9 for about a year. Other than a front sight alignment problem that was fixed by S&W in 7 days (ship to receive) I've had zero problems with the pistol. No mag drops, no light strikes, no problems with spent brass ejection, no problems with feeding. I shoot the least expensive ammo I can find. When I do my part, the pistol is accurate at 15 yards.
If you are considering buying an M&P, don't let the perceived quality issues deter you. I think the problems are very few. Also, S&W has outstanding customer service.

Bought my M&P40 in Feb06 , no problems noted . Mine prefers 180gr loads over the 165gr (they tend to shoot low) ones is the only thing I've noticed so I picked my carry ammo accordingly .
Thanks for all of the replies. Sounds like everyone is quire happy with theirs. Our department had several M&P 40s for T&E and I put about 100 rds through one. Workerd fine. A friend had a personal .40 that had a FTE a few times. Another friend had a 9c with light primer hits and brass in the face.
I realize anything made by humans can and will have issues, however some have more than their fair share! I currently carry Glocks for duty and off duty carry, and am very satisfied with them. I still like shooting other guns though.
I am very tempted to purchase an M&P and give it a go, I just have to figure out which one I want. A .40, a .45,or wait to see the 45c! Thanks again for the input.

I have an M&P40 and with only about 500 rounds through it, it has performed flawlessly. In the first 100 rounds I did have a FTE that stovepiped but I believe it to be operator error. Love the guns feel, recoil and natural point of aim.
