Hawaii Five-O

Haven't missed an episode yet, and just watched the season finale (I have to tape it).

Any thoughts on the next season's opening show?

Watching the re-runs, wondering what is in store for the new season....

Why is Steve always driving Danny's car?

I started Tivo-ing it about halfway through and waited until I had pretty much the whole season recorded. I kinda like it. Not great, but OK. It's like an hour long Chevy commercial.

I have all the old stuff on DVD. Have not watched the new one and probably won't. I understand Jack Lord and Elvis were pals. He gave him and nicely engraved Walther PPK one time because Jack Lord carried one in the first James Bond movie(Dr No). In the winter when I don't have my son I will do Five O weekends. Lay in some food, bourbon and beer. Watch as many seasons as I can in the lazy boy while eating and sipping away. It ain't pretty and yes I have my Chief Special dry firing it the entire time..
They were fans of each other's work. And you're right about the PPK gift, it was gold plated.

Wonder what happened to that PPK and what it would be worth today....

Been watching the new season. Still good.

I think Kono is working undercover for IA, and the visit at her house was the invite. She will be back in 5-O I'm guessing.

Rumor is that Grace Park doesn't like living in Hawaii and wants to leave the show. Maybe they're trying to set up a plot to write her out of the show.

Hey, GoHogs, is that Phyllis Diller between 'The King' and Stoney Burke?

Yeah, I said Stoney Burke. Couldn't stand him (Lord) as that character in my youth - really hated 'Five-O'. My wife likes the current version... therefore, I 'like' it... easy to sleep through - except for the lead-in. Stoney Burke did have Warren Oats and a young Bruce Dern in it as well.

Apparently, O'Loughlin is not related to the Gerald S. O'Loughlin , the Lt on 'The Rookies' for several years. I like James Caan's son - his character is fiesty - O'Loughlin's is 'too cool'. Still, I record it - but I don't usually watch what I slept through.

Cop shows - I miss 'Detroit 1-8-7' from last year - it was good - crime in the #1 worst city in the nation - over 1,100 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants - lots of story lines! It was a good show.

I like the new one enough to watch weekly. I have been watching the original show from the beginning on NetFlix.

I watched about 20 minutes of a season one ep a year ago, turned it off. Maybe I'll give it another go.

Perhaps Elvis and Jack Lord liked each other's work because they resembled each other. Half brothers? And is Phyllis Diller their birth mother? :D

On the question of gun-friendly or gun-hostile actors, I care less than one-tenth of a fig. If they can deliver performances that catch my attention and feel true, that's all that matters to me. I don't care what they do with their brains after production shuts down for the day. Nobody whose judgment I trust gets philosophical marching orders from entertainers anyway.

The show has gone downhill fast this season with the side plot of Wo Fat and the guy who was Steve;s dad's friend. (Unsure of names.)
