Help me solve an argument: Does driving a Ford Crown Vic make me an old man?

Buy it and then move to Florida

HEY... STOP THAT.!!!!

If I see a car like that in a parking lot somewhere, I expect to see the old man driving it.
I can see the logic in it though. Up here in the WV mountains it's always a road trip to go anywhere. The nearest Walmart is a 70 mile out of state trip. We come down out of the mountains once a month to load up on groceries, a Crown Vic would give a nice ride and carry lotsa stuff.

We have Crown Vic's at work and routinely get 200,000 miles out of them. And we run the fool out of them.

I like them so much, I bought one for the house. Now that they have quit making them, I like mine even more.

Wonderful cars.

Jim, it's not the car that makes you look like and old man it is the open toe sandals with black socks, plaid shorts, flowered shirt and handicap sticker that makes you look old !!

Roy, you're the only person on here who I've met in person. You KNOW that ain't me. I don't even own a pair of sandals, a flowered shirt or plaid shorts. And I have REALLY nice hair. Sure, it has a lot of grey and looks like I just stepped out of 1983, but I look like a kid otherwise.:p
You keep that up and I won't let you shoot my Glock anymore.

Several winters ago in Florida, Hertz was out of whatever I had reserved and they gave us a Grand Marquis. My wife said we were officially old driving that thing around Fort Myers Beach. It was big and the trunk held lots of stuff.

Too much fun to be an "old man's car"

My dad usually puts about 3 or 4 thousand miles a year on his cars, maintains them impeccably, keeps them for 7 or 8 years, and when he gets the urge for something new he sells them to me for whatever the dealer offered him in trade. The first was a Chrysler Le Baron, the second a Buick Park Avenue and the last was his 92 Crown Vic. Paid $2,000 for it in 2000, drove it for 6 years and sold it for $1400. Great ride, decent mileage and would hold 6 adults no problem, the trunk was bigger than my first apartment.

Six years and more miles than I can count for $600, whoo hoo! The most fun was on the interstate at night. Come up behind just about anybody and they could not get over fast enough as they always assumed it was a cop car.

Am I the only one who ever sees incredibly low miles and wonders how long the car sat inoperable for it to stay so low?
No, you're not. :)
Previous owner was probably 80+, only drove it the 4 blocks to church on Sunday.
Y'know, when the Mrs. makes a comment like that, she's telling ya something important. I've always found it's best to heed those hidden signals.... and that one sounded like a nice convertible would've been much better received!

Who Cares?....

I'm on my 5th Grand Marquis right now and am looking for my 6th.... every one of them has gone over 200,000 miles and a couple went over 250,000.

I've been rear-ended twice in the current one I'm driving and both times I drove my machine home and the other car went away on a wrecker or a flatbed.

27 MPG on the highway, comfortable, safe, easy to service and easy to own. What else could you ask for? I would question the logic of anyone that would argue against it's practicality....

You're no more old driving that 'Vic than I'm in mid-life crisis driving my SS Silverado with over 400HP at 44 years old. If she doesn't care for the stigma of the Vic, trade it in on a 'Vette. If she questions you, tell her it is a sacrifice you are willing to make for her image! You'd better follow that up with telling her it makes her look ten years younger.....................:)

He buys a vette and he'll never drive it. Of course the wife will be very happy.

Hey - I forgot to ask you - do you think I could get 6 Irish Setters in the back seat???

The Wife was driving an '80 4 speed Vette when I met her on October 16, 1987. Yes, I'm a Romantic, I remember the exact date.;)
Only problem was it was a CHEVette.
I married her anyway.

Yes, unless of course it has the Cop motor :D

No such thing. I work with police cars. Have about 500 of them on my lot. Basically the same as an LX model with suspension upgrades, larger hoses, ...There are a lot of minor differences but overall its the same car. A police interceptor has 15 more horses, about 240. Still cant keep up with a 6 cyl Maxima, Acura, or Toyota.
