Hey gang,

I'm seriously considering purchasing a model 49 and would really appreciate any input you guys have on this

What I know...

First, this is a nickel plated gun with a shrouded hammer. According to my buddy, who is selling it on behalf of his uncle who has been a serious collector for many years, it was supposedly purchased new and never fired. Nothing about the gun suggests this isn't true.
The gun is in as new, pristine condition. With the exception of a *very* light turn ring on the cylinder, I cannot find a single blemish on the gun or evidence it was ever shot. The fit/quality is excellent.
The grips are original, nary a mar or any signs of usage on them.
The serial number located on the bottom of the grip is ACM7XXX.
The number on the inside of the crane, which I believe is just a manufacturing number, is 72219.
The barrel shows .38spcl.
** No Box **

I'm hoping someone can help out with:

Year Manufactured.
How about shooting .38+P from this gun?
Anything else I should know about this gun?
Estimated value? he is asking $450

thanks guys!

Hi,

Your 49 was made in the 80's and is a bargain at $450. It will shoot +P ammo but you should not make it a steady diet. Nickle ones are hard to find in that condition.

Heck, a gun shop will ask that for a well used one. Definitly a go buy it deal, I dident see anything about the box, ask about the box and such as well!

OK.....I'm buying it for $425....and now I'm wondering why I need another snubbie. But dad gummit....the instant I saw it I liked it...perhaps it will make for good trade fodder for something else?...

Thanks for the input.

A Man can not have too many model 49's! I say go for it and post pictures.

Found a nickel airweight M38 recently in the same condition and price at a pawn shop and jumped at the opportunity....
Have this pic of the family in nickel, blue and SS.
