Help please

Hi, my name is Darryl, I am new to to this this forum. My question is ,I have a 38 Smith & Wesson revolver that I aquired from my Father in law,. I do not know how to tell what year or model it is. The serial # is V156358. Any help with that information would be appreciated.Thank you very much.

Welcome from VA. Email S&W with the info you posted, along with the barrel length and cylinder capacity (5 or 6 shots) and they will get back to you in about a week. On one side or the other of the barrel should be the caliber of the weapon.

Let us know what you find out and post a pic if you can.

Most revolvers have a model number stamped on them, open the revolver's cylender and look near the base of it were the ejector rod goes into the clyender (before it was open) there should be a flat area where the modle # should be
