I was at a range with my Shield 9mm doing some practice and I noted they had a shiny new .22 compact for rent ....
I gave it a whirl and used up a couple hundred rounds of Winchester 40g TRN without any sort of hiccup at all.
The pistol is indeed VERY similar in operation and grip feel and such compared to a Shield. It proved accurate and a "nice" pistol in general, and I liked it except this one had an internal lock and a mag safety. Not a big deal on a non-SD weapon I guess.
It was FUNNER cuz it shoots about the same as a 9mm of the same size and is a LOT cheaper to run a bunch of ammo through....
I have pretty much made up my mind that my wife NEEDS one of these, since it has a nice light slide action AND I could maybe borrow it now and then to plink and practice .... Yes I think this is a PLAN!
I had looked at a Ruger compact .22 but the M&P .22 compact impressed me as a well-done little gun with a MUCH nicer trigger feel and clean reset and such.
Yep, the wife is gonna thank me for this ......
