I was at a range with my Shield 9mm doing some practice and I noted they had a shiny new .22 compact for rent ....
I gave it a whirl and used up a couple hundred rounds of Winchester 40g TRN without any sort of hiccup at all.

The pistol is indeed VERY similar in operation and grip feel and such compared to a Shield. It proved accurate and a "nice" pistol in general, and I liked it except this one had an internal lock and a mag safety. Not a big deal on a non-SD weapon I guess.
It was FUNNER cuz it shoots about the same as a 9mm of the same size and is a LOT cheaper to run a bunch of ammo through....

I have pretty much made up my mind that my wife NEEDS one of these, since it has a nice light slide action AND I could maybe borrow it now and then to plink and practice .... Yes I think this is a PLAN!

I had looked at a Ruger compact .22 but the M&P .22 compact impressed me as a well-done little gun with a MUCH nicer trigger feel and clean reset and such.

Yep, the wife is gonna thank me for this ......

Sounds like a plan. Let us know how it works out and I may try something similar because I want one too.

glad i'm not the only one with thoughts like this...... i've even let it slip on what Santa may bring my wife on Christmas morning..... not sure if she was going to be as excited as I will be (err i mean might be) lol

I love mine. I got in on the PSA deal for $249.99, put 200 rounds of Federal bulk thru it this weekend without any problems at all. I am very impressed with this gun. I have a M&P 9mm full size, 9mm compact and the Shield in 9mm. The .22 compact fits into the collection nicely.

Was looking for a nice plinker that was reliable and would eat any and all ammo and this pistol does all of that. Very happy with my purchase.
