Hogue tamer Grip for J-Frame 642-442

I have, it's the best J frame grip I've found. It's got a lot of cushion, makes the grip fill the hand much better, but yet really does not hamper the ability to conceal the gun. Buy one, would be my advice.

Here you are, it covers the entire backstrap. I've had the S&W grip, they stink and do not cushion recoil at all. Go with the Hogue.

I know I am being a pain but any comparison before and after pictures? I am wondering if this kind of a grip will add much more to the pocket? Thank you in advance!

That Hogue grip looks like it adds quite a bit more length which would make it harder to conceal. That said if it's as comfortable as the Tamer Ruger LCR grips I think they have a winner.

Possible to get a side pic? Hard to tell the size of the grip and how it fits from that angle. Thanks.

Also, is that grip closed on the bottom of the butt or does it have a hole?

The bottom of the grip is covered. It's not but 1/2 inch longer, but it's about double around it. I don't see any appreciable difference in conceal-ability. It fit fine before in a in the pocket holster, it still does.

I'm sorry Bud, I would if I could, but I did not take a before picture. For what it's worth, I think the difference is negligible in the ability to conceal it, but huge in shootability. Trust me, it's worth the $20 easy.

thanks I will look into them for some range time... I like the factory grips for pocket carry. Thinking about some CT 105's somewhere down the road.

Vs. Crimson Trace?

Any idea how the Hogues compare to the CT LG305s? I've been told they fill the hand much better and absorb more of the recoil.

But if these are $200 cheaper than the CTs, I think I know which way I'd go.....

I think you answered you own question, how can you not try the $20 grips first? I've had CT's, harsh sunlight makes them useless, recoil protection is much better with the Hogues.

Here's a side-by-side with my 360PD.

Makes a HUGE difference in comfort and shootability, concealment in a jeans pocket a wee-bit compromised, in a front-belt cross-draw holster...no difference.

I hate to be vain about my gun, but I am. That tamer grip is kind of ugly. It looks bigger then the actual gun. It looks better then the Hogue monogrip and Pachmayr options, but still looks out of place on such a small frame revolver. I went ahead and got the J Synthetic Full Size Grip with S&W Logo. It feels & looks good, but I haven't shot it yet. If it still stings my hand I will have no choice but to bite the bullet and buy the Tamer. I prefer to keep my piece stock with S&W parts if possible. No offense intended.

I thought I was done buying for my Model 60. After trying everything I could find I finally realized I shoot the Uncle Mike boot grips better than the others. I guess now I will have to give these a try. Of course I normally pocket carry my 60 so I may not

I have the Hogue Tamers on my 340PD and my 642-1 and I am very satisfied with them.I do not pocket carry,so I am unable to help you with that question. They conceal in my IWB and Galco Executive shoulder holster without a problem.I use Safariland speed loaders, which did not work with the factory grip. They are fine with the Tamers. They are very nice to shoot with, well worth the money.
