How about a Mountain Gun thread?

M 624-5 Mountain Gun

Took me FOR-EV-ER but I finally got a Mountain Gun of my very own.

Now I just need the original style box and paperwork that would of come with it from the factory. And the Grips.

I know, my picture taking skills are not up to snuff with most of you guys but it's something.

Great thread
I had a pair of the original mountain revolvers and traded out of them for a few different reasons. Mostly weight, they really aren't much lighter than a regular 4" gun and what little difference there is comes from the front end and that's where I prefer it.
I picked up another MR a few years back and it seemed to shoot my everyday utility load very well and it also shot my jacketed bullet magnum load well. More importantly to me was it shot them to the same point of impact at 25 yards. It was already magnaported but did have some finish issues, the original bead blasted finish is pretty delicate.
So
I thought why not send it back to Michigan for a little custom work.
I very happy with the way it came out. Some old school custom touches and a couple newer ones as well.
Most of you have seen these before but here they are for those who haven't
:D

That is some beautiful work, I have to say I haven't seen it before. Who did the job?

I never get tired of seeing that one. What a beauty!

I love the looks and utility of my mountain guns/revolvers.

I only have interest in the .44 Mag and .45 Colt variants.

Thanks
Magnaport did it all
It rolls over in double action like hot corn on the cob does in butter. Most all modern smiths give a pretty good break in single action and this one doesn't disappoint there either. Every moving part seems like it's been smoothed up, it opens and closes super smooth and there is no play in any direction with the cylinder. When it's locked up, it's locked UP, I've really never felt a revolver like this.

Edited: This is my first post on this forum. Long time "lurker" here and learned a lot reading. Love to share on this thread. Mountain Guns would have to be my top wheel gun.

BSY Serial on the Mountain Gun. Would anyone have an estimated "born on date"?

I do have some Altamont Combat "Super Rosewood crockback/stipple w/ smith & wesson silver medallion" grips being made for the mountain gun.

629-4 Mountain Gun to go with my 629-6

I use diamond D leather out of Wasilla, AK for my leather. This is a guides gear chest holster. Not a cheap date, but everything I order from these guys is top notch.
