How could i forget my gun safe combination ?UPDATE :WOOHOO GOT IT

I have both my safe combinations on the list of all my guns.

I send my daughter a copy each time I get a new one.

Kinda weird quoting myself, but wanted to add. The copy I have on my PC and the hard copy I keep don't have the combinations on them.

Just in case anyone did break in and found it or compromised my PC.

kamloops67: THANKS for your post !!!
Just put my handgun safe combo in notes on my I-phone. Have had the safe for over 5 years. Didn’t have it written down anywhere.

Be SAFE and Shoot Often !

Call a locksmith, when he arrives tell him what you remember of the combination and he will open your safe. Don't ask me how I know this.

I always use dates or years or or numbers that have meanings to me for combinations. Maybe you do, too? If so, maybe you can reconstruct. Of not, like you say, just wait a bit. It’ll probably come back to you.

Good luck!
Same here. Dates that are important to me that I won't forget are the key for me.

I have electronic locks on my safes, which can be programmed with multiple 6-digit combinations. Important dates are perfect choices, with the big advantage being that you needn't write anything down: You're not going to forget your own birthday. A second advantage is that you can give your children access to your safe, in case of emergency, by programming their birthdates as combination choices.

One of my safes has a combo using my old long distance user name on the CB from back in the day when I used a Linear for more power. Somebody in California may remember my combo!! Whoa They used to be 3000 miles away...now only a 1000. I may have to change it...

I also had trouble opening my safe. My son told me "Dad, have you replaced the battery on the lock?" My hearing is bad and did not realize the battery was dead. My son also said, "Dad, you never hear it making the noise when you enter it correctly or when you miss the combination".
It turns out that it has two tones and I never heard either.
New battery was put in and got it open on first try. Plus he has the combination as well.

Did you remember it yet?

LOL YES!!!
I think i have peter- paul to thank mainly ,
I tried his suggested method of commanding myself, outloud to remember . Immediately a number sprang to mind , it turned out to be WRONG lol BUT i still remembered that number the next day ...strange right ?
the numbers kept tumbling around in my head til this morning i started to have the number 81 tumbling around kind of " in front" of the others (as i visualize them in my minds eye) turns out i had mistakenly remembered 51 instead of 81
After a time i realized i was probably remembering the entire combination lol
I tried it, and sure enough it popped open
THANK YOU ALL , especially you peterpaul , pretty slick trick
It is now written down in mutiple places ...not in my phone either haha

I just use the 5 digits of my old carry 1911, but not any letters. This is a cheapo little safe I keep in my bedroom.

The real deal gun safe has the same combo that I gave the factory years ago.

Pick a book on the shelf and a page # that is important to you. If any crook finds it they will be an educated crook.

Got the Wife a Sentry safe for here jewelry. Digital type with emergency keys. Something went wrong with the digital stuff. No problem says I; where's the emergency key I gave you. Nowhere to be found. Went to Sentry, was able to satisfy their questions and they sent us two new keys. The day they showed up in the mail was the day I found the original ones in my gun safe, where I must have put them. Definitly CRS or CRAFT.
