How do you folks survive up North?

BTW this "wind chill" stuff wasn't invented until the mid-70s or so. All that means is that if you made too many mistakes and are lost out on the prairie you die a little quicker.

I'm always a bit amazed that more people don't buy the farm in really bad weather. Especially with 4WDs and snowmobiles that let you go further and get stucker. Old Man Winter is not much into forgiving.

Winter is just a test. Get married where it's cold and survive a couple of winters together, then anything is possible. Nothing tests your compatibility with your spouse more than sub zero temperatures. My wife and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary this year in Wyoming and my parents will celebrate their 50th in Montana. Keep the faith brothers...stay warm and wear a fur hat.

What is most fun is when it's March, and hits 40 degrees F, and you walk out in a t-shirt and jeans and feel quite warm :D

Again, I love the outdoors, and New England is hard to beat for beautiful scenery. I've been hiking in the Presidential Mountains where in just a few hours we went from warm and sunny, to overcast, to there's 4" of snow and we need to get a shelter up quick before it gets bad.

an older pic of me on a morning hike overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. As much as it brings hard chores, the winter up North can be wonderful.
