How long have you had the same carry gun

Great idea for a thread.........

Have had a Pa. concealed carry permit since 1978, bought a 4" Model 10 the same year (long gone/traded for a 2 1/2in. Model 19 IIRC) but didn't carry much until 1984-85

I've often thought I'm the only one that hasn't changed carry guns in decades.....weather and clothing dictate which gun but my EDC guns have remained the same for a long time...

90% of the time my 3913NL w/ flush fit 7rd mag. (8rd extra mag) , Hogue checkered wood grips in a Sparks Summer special........... since about 1992-3 (Started out with a regular 3913 in 1989 added a 5906 hammer and rubber Hogue's to it in about 94...... still gets some range time)

The 3913 replaced my Walther PPK with beavertail and wood grips also in a Summer special; but it still sees some use when I'm in a suit or tux...LOL ........ 1986

When I feel the need for a little more "comfort" ...... a Performance Center 6906 w/ stippled grips in a Sparks Executive Companion.... with a extra 15 rd. mag....... 1995-6.

My "walk in Penn's woods" gun is a 3" 66 w/ Spegel Boot grips... again in a Sparks Summer Special or Bianchi cross-draw........... 1989-90.

I have a soft spot for Beretta 92 Compacts... which I consider "full size" guns.....I will sometimes carry a Type M; 4.25 inch barrel, single stack 8+1, 9mm, which is about the size of a Colt Commander in a Summer Special........... 1994

My primary house gun and a "sometimes carry" is a Beretta 92F compact; 13+1 rounds, with a extra 17 round Mec-Gar mag w/ grip spacer as backup............. 1987

All the autos have DA/SA triggers and the same style of safety....though generally the safety is just a decocker!

It's an Ed Brown Kobra Carry.

Holster wear on a 1911 is just beautiful. I cant wait to get a les baer since they do some thin bluing they wear great in holsters. Iv been drooling over this picture for too long now.

FN P35 since about 1965. Lost it in IKE in 2008.
I carry a lot of different guns but have had a 39-2 since 1970.

I really like that a lot. Wanna sell it? :D
Everything's for sale if the price is right. I think it would be less expensive to buy a new one.;)

Well, that's the first time I've ever heard anyone actually want lower quality bluing.

Just for the record, I had my gun refinished. I bought it used and it had just a regular stainless finish. Then I sent it back in for a Gen III coating. If I were to do it again, I'd probably have a Melonite treatment applied. That will hold up better to hard use. My gun looks that way because I shoot it a lot and I practice a lot from the holster. It wouldn't look like that if it had Hart Hat or Melonite done to it.

LOL..... well nothing's changed in the past two and a half years!!!!

:D

I have been carrying legally for 40 years now. Always 2, but constantly evolving.2 J frames for 25 years, then 2 G26s, then 2 G43s, then 2 Keltec P11s, now 2 Taurus Views. They weigh 11 ounces loaded. Carry every step...shoot every day.

While I have just recently returned to S&W revolvers having purchased a 36, 60-15, 66-4 and 19-5 since February, my longest-lived EDC is my Kimber Ultra Carry (1st series) that I purchased new around 2000.

I also have a similar vintage full-size Kimber Classic Custom that is reserved for cold weather EDC when concealability is less of an issue.

I bought an M&P 40c as my carry gun when I got my carry license in 2014. Subsequently, I decided it was too heavy and bulky, so I bought a Shield 9mm. I had RSA "issues" with the Shield that took 3 months to straighten out. During that time I carried my 40c on a "temporary" basis. I learned to love my 40c, and got used to its heft. It is now my permanent EDC. I fire 300-400 rounds a month with it to keep in practice, and it now has over 7000 rounds through it. The 40c is a great design -- reliable, accurate, powerful, and surprisingly concealable. Ten 40s beat eight 9s every time as far as I'm concerned.

On rare occasions, I will carry my Shield, and therefore, I practice with it as well (I have nearly 5000 rounds through it). However, my Shield is definitely not as good a gun as my 40c. I don't see any other gun replacing my 40c as my EDC any time soon, or perhaps, ever.

Nothing's changed for me either. Well, I did change the slide stop to a more preferred profile:
