How many always carry the same gun?

MrHockey: with 357 ammo I would prefer the larger CT J frame grips.
This is what I have to chose from at one time or another in the last 40 years I have carried the 1911, Mod 15,19 Sigma40 and Sig220

It's not always the same gun, but it's always a revolver. If I ever have to use the thing, I don't want to have to think about what I'm carrying. 99.9% of the time it's a Colt DS-II in the summer, and a 3" S&W 65 in the winter.

I'm down to four handguns that I will carry (not all at one time). My belt gun (on duty) is a Les Baer Thunder Ranch 1911 .45 ACP. My off duty is a Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 ACP 3", my always BUG is an ankle holstered Glock Model 27 .40 with a laser sight. My optional BUG is a S & W Model 642 .38 special in either a ankle holster or a pocket carry holster. I shoot all four very well and feel well armed with the .40 or .45's...

Not the same gun, but usually the same manual of arms. I rotate based on need, between Glocks of various sizes and calibers.

Even the bug has the same moa, a Kel-tec .32 that will be replaced by a Ruger LCP in the near future.

For me, it depends on where I'm going and the time of the year. I choose between a Seecamp, S&W 3913, or my old reliable Model 60 J-frame.

Almost always carry a 1911 variant (Wilson Combat CQB Compact). Very rarely substituted with a M&P 40c or DAO SP-101.

I am fortunate in that I have several that I choose from depending on where I'm at or mode of dress. As for my wheelies, I chose from my S&W 642 or Ruger Speed Six. As for semi's, I go with either a Glock 23 or Sig P-6.

Mdl 37, since 1954.
Also, now, a Colt Officers LW 45. since 1989.
And, a Keltec P11, most times, since 1997.
Always the 37. Never without it, ever!

Agree to some extent with original post. You ought to be intrinsicaly familiar with your carry weapon. I use my 5906tsw during cold winter months when I am layerd with clothing and outside; and my 3913tsw IWB carry for most other times. Both are from the same generation of S&W but of different size. The trigger pulls are about the same for me and both are in 9mm.

95% of the time I have a 1911 @ 3:30 in a Bianchi Carrylok.
I also have a Taurus 445 .44 special in my left front pocket.
If I am feeling uneasy before I leave the house I have the other 1911 under my left arm in a Galco Miami Classic.

But the 1911 is always on my hip... and the .44 is always in my pocket.

Have carried my Glock 27 .40 for 12 years, usually OWB or under a baggy shirt in an Active Pro Gear shoulder rig . In the summer, I opt for the KelTec P3AT in the front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis. If going to the "big (A) city" its always the G27, KelTec, and my wife with her S&W 642 as backup.

I carry different guns. This summer either a Model 36 or 37 both DAO pocket carry. Sometimes a Mustang or Tomcat if I want smaller and flatter.
This winter either a Model 66 or 686 plus snubs with a jacket.
Hunting always an N frame of one sort under my coat.

I carry my M-36 2" most of the time. Sometimes, when I'm wearing a cover shirt or coat, I carry a M-10-7 2". Basically the same gun, but a different size. Bob

Model 60 all the time,in front pocket leather holster.

I am authorized to carry two firearms; my S&W 696 and my Browning BDA380. It depends on the circumstances which one I carry. On Veterans Day, my girlfriend and I went mushroom hunting in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The area is a known habitat for mountain lions. We even saw the remains of a partially eaten deer. I had the 696 with me. It is good medicine for predators, either two legged or four.

If we go someplace where concealability is important, then I take the BDA380. Most two legged predators are cowards. So a .380 is sufficient for them.

If anyone is interested, we found a couple pounds of good mushrooms, two hallucinagenic mushrooms that we left, and one Death Angel mushroom that we didn't even touch.

I only/always carry the same type of gun . . . N frame 44 magnums (various barrel lengths) in a Galco hi-ride.

I am in Arizona so temp and dress dictate, whenever possible it is my lightweight Colt Commander in an IWB, when not a J frame in a pocket holster.

Normal carry guns-G23C, Sigma 9VE, 4516-1. I have been known to switch guns during the day. I also will carry large frame autoloaders- 645, 1991A1. NTM my Hi Power and 1076. I never carry a new-to-me gun until I take it to the range and put at least two boxes through it. I understand the "carry one gun and become proficient with it" theory, but I firmly believe in being able to shoot well with all my hand weapons. JHMO.

For 10 years or so I have carried my Kimber 1911 .45 in the same Milt Sparks year round for social work . Anymore when I strap on a revolver and sling up a rifle , I am heading some place for fun . Alone for miles around . Idaho is good .

There's not a day goes by that I don't have my Smith & Wesson J frame model 38 (no dash) Airweight Bodyguard in my front pocket.

Every. Single. Day.

Well, I don't have that many to choose from. (grin) My 649 is hard to beat. I've shot about 700 rounds now, both .38 special and .357, and I'm starting to feel comfortable. I have been fortunate enough to find two (Galco) holsters, IWB and OWB, that are a perfect fit.

I will change guns dependent on what I'm wearing/going but the consistency for me is the double-action-only, no safety. I would never rotate to a part-time 1911.
