...in a SHTF situation, I'll be carrying lots of mags full of ammo...
Not me. If it really hits the fan, there will be PLENTY of those Call of Duty playing preppers lying around in the streets with oodles of loaded pmags tucked in their queer little "tactical vests". All I'll have to do is walk around and collect them.![]()
When I think about the answer to this question it would be how many can I carry. Certainly if the SHTF I am going to be taking my AR but I also plan to bring the .35 and a 12 ga. and all my hand guns so just how much room in the truck can be used for weapons and how much can be used for food and water and clothing will play into the answer.
Nah, if its those call of duty players you can bet they dont have any Pmags whats so ever. They probably have a sniper rifle and they are hiding out over in the bushes.
...using those other downed Call of Duty playing preppers lying around in the streets for bait...
Im not trying to flame anyone, I myself have 12 maggazines that I have collected over the years.
Going out in one day and buying up all the magazines you can find is fine. If you got the money and that is what you want, go for it!!! But how many rounds can one magazine take before it gets wore out? What i am getting at is, if a situation comes up where AR mags would not be available, what do you think will happen to ammo? Its hard enough to find ammo right now unless you pay alot for it. If the government passes a bill that stops the sales of ARs, magazines, etc etc you will literally be able to find ZERO ammo.
If you have 15 mags that are 30 rounds then you are at 450 rounds. I will shot high and say the AVERAGE person has 1000 rounds of ammo. So if ammo is gone, you will roughly reload all the magazines roughly 2 1/2 times.
I have close to 90 for two Ars and 14 for my 15-22......
Once mags are a a regular price all the time I will pick up more. You simply cannot have enough mags.
