How many of you are lucky enought to have a 'Gun Room'?

I've been down in the basement all afternoon cleaning and organizing my gun room and wondered how many members also have a dedicated 'space' for the hobby.
I feel really lucky to have a 12' x 12' room I built in '91 down here. It is my sanctuary from work, troubles and the Wife, not neccesarrily in that order, it shifts around at times.
I've got 2 benches, one dedicated to reloading equipment with 2 RCBS Rockchuckers and am about to mount a Lyman turret press, it has ample space at 8' feet long for a bunch of equipment and storage. I built in shelves and a spot for the scale when I assembled it. The other bench is for firearms maintanence and general work, also doubles as a work space for general day to day stuff. I've got a sturdy Liberty safe and a smaller one, some bookshelves for reference material and an old 'Barristers' glass front shelf unit for display items.
The walls are covered with memorabilia ranging from printer trays with bullets/cartridges to Indian artifacts, old pictures, deer antlers, an antique Strohs Beer mirror and even a 'Fallout Shelter in Basement' sign that I liberated from an old building years ago.
I really like spending time down here away from the rest of the world. It is my home within a home and I can't even begin to count the guns I've worked on or the thousands of rounds I've loaded here.
We are contemplating moving within a year to take care of my Parents, and I will sure miss leaving this spot. I don't want to think about the work required to get a new space for my hobby and hope I last another 20 years to build the memories I've gotten from this one.
How many of you have such a spot? Do you all enjoy it as much as I do? I know my Wife would never let me do all I can do here upstairs, this is my territory, the only spot in the house where she is not allowed to gripe or fuss, that is the one rule I set long ago and She has pretty much accepted it.

Sounds like a great refuge. I am hoping to be out of this apartment and back into a house of my own early next year. I am already planning on a room like yours. Since I don't have a particular house in mind right now, it's hard to say where everything will go, but I would really like a "safe room" with reinforced walls, a ventilation system, and a vault door.

I have always wanted a room that I could just hang guns on the wall without having to stuff them in a safe. My safe is a bit crowded at this time, and it's a pain in the butt to get a rifle or shotgun out from the back without taking a whole bunch of stuff out first.

Your set-up sounds a lot like what I would want. A room where all the reloading, and gun maintainence takes place. The only question is whether or not to get another safe, or make the room a giant safe.

Have you given any thought to where you will set up all this stuff when you move?

I was gonna post a picture of mine but after all this tidyness I think I'll just go have a beer.

But I DO have a room, every once in a while I find some ammo I didn't know I had. A while back I found a gun I didn't know I had. (A four inch 19) My goal in life is to be the BATF's poster boy.

i have my man room a shop 150 feet from the house, it has A/C, fridge, phone and all, except potty but I do have a nice yard, even have my old recliner out here for a good nap

Yeah, mine is the third bedroom, but it sure isn't as neat as that. I was fixin' to grab the camera (before I saw these photos). No way will I do so now.

RLingo!!
You forgot to take out the trash!

Well organized space I must say, wish I could come close to that, mine is more of the 'Rolling Wreck' effect. That's why I've been all day cleaning.
I like the windows, that is the one thing lacking in mine is good lighting. I have one small window with bars on the inside and it just doesn't let in enough natural light. But then security is compromised.
Carpeting is another, this concrete floor is cold this time of year.
Great pic of a very nice spot

RLingo's pics gave me a combination of chills and nausea:D

My "gun room" is such a mess that about the only time I clean it up is when I am working on something, set my screwdriver down and it takes me 30 minutes to find it again.
Of course after I clean it up and put everything away, I can't find anything without tearing it apart again.
I file things by the archaeological system. I try to remember the last time I used something and then start digging down through "x" number of layers.:D
My shop is a little better 'cause if I don't put things away, I can't move in it.:p

I could come over there & clutter it up a bit if yer too comfy in that OCD nest...

HAR!!!

Ok, since I'm not the only one here is my picture. This is the "neat" corner.

Maybe we should start an Ugly Gun Room thread.

I am fortunate to live in "This old house", before Norm and Steve have fixed it up. In the basement I took an old bedroom and made it in to my gunroom. Lots of bullets, powder, guns, etc. I live in town, so all my friends drop in constantly. I'm very blessed to have such a room, and a wife who loves me. I am further blessed with a bushel of gun buddies, men and women, young and old, who share my/our love of guns and reloading. amen

Sort of. I have a "room." It's about 12x12, but it has my gun safe, reloading gear, guitars, amp, bench press, treadmill and numerous dumbbells.

It's a "guy" room.

I am fortunate to have two such rooms, the one in the basement is my machine/gunsmithing shop. I used to reload down there too, I had a home office on the second floor of my home that also housed my gun vault. I found myself doing a lot of running up and downstairs, so a few years ago I made the home ofice into my reloading/gun room. I bought a butcher block table, swivel bar stool and bookcase from the unfinished furniture store and finished them to match. I have an antique double glass door bookcase that displays all kinds of "stuff", the walls are covered with all manner of gun related pictures, posters, deer antlers etc. I don't spend as much time in my man cave's as I'd like to, but I thoroughly enjoy the time that I do. I've been spending more time lately as I have been unemployed for the last six months and full retirement is only five years off.

When I lived in Colorado my gun/reloading room was in the basement next to the furnace. When I moved to Arkansas in 2002 my 4th bedroom became the gun/reloading room and I use pretty much the whole room. It's nicer then my old one and not nearly kept as neat as the one pictured above. My Girlfriend laughs at the fact that I have a whole room for my hobby. I told her it's one of the benefits of being an old guy and having all your kids grown and gone.

Did ya'll notice the tub of clutter on top the gun safe in the corner of the room on that first picture. That is absolutely unacceptable.
