How many of you have 38 special revolvers

I have about 3 or 4 J frame 38 specials and one model 10 that was a J&G sales barreless revolver that I added a 4” heavy barrel to.

While I don’t shoot them as often as other calibers I think there’s enough of a purpose to keep them around. The model 10 is a great shooter with some warmer loads

I have 2 Smiths, a 1957 pre-14 K38 3T Heavy Barrel Masterpiece still in 99% condition, and yesterday I obtained a 1979 model 10 2" square butt wearing diamond targets and quite a bit of rust. I replaced the diamonds with a chipped set of smooth targets. A strange combination to be sure, but it shot a 4" group in the lower left A zone at 25 yards. Who says snubbies can't be accurate?!
My third and favorite to shoot is my Cimarron lightning.
And 9 .357 cousins.

I’d sure agree that a 4-inch .357 is “a more versatile .38 Special,” but I also have a soft spot for the Combat Masterpiece. I’ve had a lot of .38 Special revolvers over the years, and still have most of them, but the one I’ve never owned and probably never will (unfortunately) is a factory full-target, nickel Model 15 with RR/WO. All the 15s I’ve been around were pretty plain, but that hasn’t kept me from enjoying the plain ones.

I have owned and still have a number. I carried different ones, mostly as backup and/or off duty sidearms.

I have downsized since I retired, having sold the air weights and a few of the snub nosed.

The 38 Special is a solid round that served a lot of cops for many years.

I have seven .38 Special only revolvers, but realized that not one of them is a Model 10.

442, 37, 60, 3x Model 64, and an M&P. But no Model 10.

Honestly, if I was forced to have only one caliber of handgun, is would probably be .38 Special, even though I also own a number of both revolvers and semi-autos in a number of calibers. Guessing that has to do more with the amount of reloading components that I have on hand more than any other factor. That said, the .38 Special will do pretty much everything that needs being done with a handgun.

Yikes, well lets see, 60,642,342pd,2 model 10s, 12,15-4 2",15-6, 2- 67-1s, 1-64 3", 68, 9 model-14s, 4 - PPC guns all 38s. All I can remember, does a M-52 count.

.38

Since I see others posting Colts I’ll jump back in … a couple of Official Police - the four inch is a birth year gun and in better shape than me … the six inch is a re-blue former armored car company issue gun (I supplied the beautiful Herrets).

I have 2 .38 special revolvers that I don't shoot much. but like others here I have 10 or so .357 magnums that I shoot .38 specials out of it most of the time or .357's loaded to .38 velocities

I have more than a few.

If a person is into Smith revolvers they will probably have a revolver capable of shooting .38s.

The question would be like going to a Glock forum and asking how many have a 9mm.

Welcome to the forum by the way. If you get yourself a .38, you will probably enjoy it. It's a great round and it's been around a long time for good reason.

Wow, I just realized I have over 10! 10’s, a 12, 14’s, and 15’s. Plus, a Colt DS, Cobra, and Officer’s Model. I love .38’s!

A smith and wesson k frame should be a good alternative for you with a 4" of 6" barrel. Mod 14/Model 15 and others. Very accurate with just enough weight to absorb recoil without being cumbersome to shoot with injured wrists.

Love the .38 special and love the K frames. Here is my favorite .38 family; the Model 10. I have the Model 10 through the Model 10-10. 2, 4, 5 and 6" barrel. The only nickel I have is the Model 10-5 (also in blue). Great guns and lots of fun collecting them.
