Ivoted I don't carry an extra. However at times depending on the area of town and how I feel at that particular time I will put an extra Mag. in my pocket, this is especially true for my P6 which is only 8 shots.
Greetings!
In light of the current state of civil stability, for those of you that carry a semi-auto, how many magazines do you typically carry?
Thanks for participating in this survey. While I live in a state that mandates neutered magazines (10 rounds max), I am looking to get a feel for what my fellow forum members feel comfortable with.
Thanks in advance for your opinions!
In the past 43 years that I have carried, I have had one mag failure, with bullets falling out of the mag secondary to a broken base plate. Not to worry I had multiple spare mags, due to the reality that mags fail. Bear hunt six mags 2 identical rifles, zeroed, cleaned and function tested 2 days before arrival at bear camp. The rifles were in double Pelican cases, in a friends brand new suburban. We went to check zero and the first mag would not feed?? It worked perfectly 2 days before and did not sustain any type of damage. So If you are carrying an auto, you MUST carry at least one spare, does not matter if it is a 33 round Glock or 6 round Keltec, and depending on the make, model of the gun it may not fire without a mag,. May need one shot only, but bullets are difficult to use when lying on the floor of the truck. Be Safe,Typically I carry the gun and 1 extra mag....occasionally 2.
I get the "If I cant solve the problem with whats in the gun" mentality...but people seem to forget magazines fail at a much higher rate than guns....
If your mag fails it doesnt really matter if you are using a Glock and 33 round mag.....It will be useless without a reload.
Plus an extra mag doesnt weigh hardly anything.....Definitely prudent to have at least one reload.
