Hi,
I have a 22A that I purchased new 20 years ago. It had been in storage many years and I finally took it out to shoot, and it turned out to be a really nice shooter. Only problem is one of the factory mags it came with pulled apart. Meaning the plastic base popped out of the magazine, and doesn't stay seated in any more when pressure is applied, so it's effectively unusable.

The plastic base doesn't appear to be held in by any kind of fastener. Does anyone have a recommended way to seat it back in the magazine "permanently"? Many thanks!

The mag body slides into groves on the base plate. If the base plate is worn out, get a new one at the site bigggbbruce listed.
The b plate should fit snuggly to the bottom of the mag. If the b plate looks
good (not worn out) you could expand the bottom of the mag slightly to create a snug fit.
New mags cost +-$25. Base plate cost $6.
Hope this helped. Also you can download the owners manual from Google.
I did that for my S&W 442 pistol, 22cal.

Update: There is a video on YouTube that I pulled off Google.
“Smith and Wesson Victory magazine disassembly”.
It notes to tap mag on table after assembly so the Mag spring
seats into the mag base to secure it onto the mag body.

Be SAFE and Shoot Often!

These mags are readily available at gun shows and on the used market and replacing is probably as stated a good idea anyway. I think that I paid just under $30 a few months ago for one. A 22S (22A made with more steel), was my only 22 handgun for 20 years. They are fun and reliable. Enjoy!
