We all compromise. We carry weapons that are a compromise between the perfect weapon and one you are comfortable carrying all day. But, in your personal arsenal there is one handgun that you would grab if you knew you were going to need to use it and you are limited to the ammunition in the gun. No fair saying a shotgun, or an MP5 or a bazooka - this is a handgun, preferably one you own.

I carry either a Kahr PM 9 or a Colt New Agent .45 daily. But the handgun I own that I would put on my belt if I knew that today was the day is one of my Glock 22's. High capacity .40 SW accurate and jam free.

What is yours?

p.s. why do I have 2 Glock 22's? Like new police trade-ins, $299 each.

I keep a Glock 34 jammed in one of the magazine pouches, turning it into a holster, on my Eagle chest rig. 17 rounds of 9mm with the longer tube for better accuracy and a bit more velocity. If it is cloudy with a chance of rain, a 33rd mag can be inserted instead.

My first thought was to say my 586 L-comp, because it holds 7 shots of .357 goodness. But after more thought, if I knew I would need it, I would probably grab my 6" 686-4, loaded up with (6) heavy-hitters.

10 mm

My Glock 20 chunked full (15 +1) of Double Tap's 180 grain Gold Dots. I'd rather chicken out and not go of course.

It's not a gunfight, but when I have to go out at night and run a bear out of the trash or dogfood I skip my autos and pick up my model 57. When it absolutly positivly has to go bang nothing beats a good large bore revolver. No clip to worry about and no fear of a jam.

id go with my snub nose model 36.. since this is hypothetical and all...

what can i say.. i always bet on the underdog..:p

A couple comments here.

Who gets to choose which gun they will be using? Other than Bowie, Crockett or Houston at the Alamo, I never knew of anyone that could say they were going to be in a gunfight. SO it would benefit us to carry the gun we would use IF we get into a gunfight.

Which gun is best would depend on the gun you have at the time and your proficiency with it.

As to the gun I would want to have would be my S&W model 66, my S&W 4506 or my Glock 22. I do not feel outgunned with any. All it takes is one shot per assailant to stop the fight. Proper sight picture saves ammo, increases accuracy and fewer bullets are needed.

Bill Jordan said it best. There is NO second place winner.
