I am so annoyed at Winchester I could just.....

I have the same complaint about Remington. Bought some Golden Saber just about a year ago. They were doing the $10 a box rebate. Hard to pass that up. I bought ten boxes of .45 and my wife bought ten of 9mm. Convinced my parents in law to buy 10 each as well.

Long story short, my wife and I didn't get our rebates. That's $200 we're talking. Everything sent in within days of purchase. All original receipts and UPC cut outs. Tried for months and even did their online check of rebate status. My in laws got theirs, but not us. When I finally was able to get someone on phone, she said it showed our receipts didn't have a qualifying purchase date. Well that was a bunch of hooey of course. I even made copies of everything I sent. I called back again just to get someone else and maybe speak to a manager, but this person who answered said my files/info was too old for her to access on the computer.

This was 10 minutes apart. I tried sending email to Remington customer service with my copies of proof. Nothing of course.

So, I've promised I will never buy anything Remington again, or associated. Not Para, Remington, Mossberg, Bushmaster, DPMS, etc.

Other and better companies out there.

I can definitely say I was scammed.

Instead of a rebate why don't the company just lower the price? I don't buy anything that has a rebate. This week I bought Prvi Partizan instead of Rem. and their rebate. Larry

ALL rebates= sucker bait......99% give up before jumping through ALL the hoops to get it..................
All the hoops? You mean cutting?

Its not like you have to compete in a triathlon. Takes longer to mow my lawn, or vacuum.

I have just decided to not let rebates influence my decision to buy something . If it's "on sale " at the store and a good price I buy it , rebates are iffy at best , a roll of the dice....and the odds are with the house that you're going to lose.

I got 80 bucks back from Winchester when they had the same offer earlier this fall.

I cut the codes from each box. 40 of them. Got pretty good at it. Sharp knife, cut end seam first, leave shells in place, no problem.

Paid $7.99 a box at Academy; net $5.99. I could reload for a little less, but not enough less to bother.

Might seem silly, but I'll share our UPC removal system with you.

I use a small triangular cake spatula for a shield, and slide it between the shells and the side of the box where the UPC is. Then slice the code out with an Exacto knife, and patch the hole by taping a piece of paper over it. Hubby helps so it goes fast and you don't empty the shells.

Actually you don't need to cut through the entire layer of cardboard. When I did a rebate with Federal Gold Medal Paper Shells I just used an exacto to scribe around the UPC. I could then peel the UPC up and leave the box intact for the most part.

Was worth the effort, it was $2 per box and I had 3 cases. Took maybe 20 minutes of work to yield $60. I'll take that kind of cash per hour any day.

Don't blame Winchester, these rebates are administered by fulfillment centers who don't care if you use the whole box of shells on yourself. They're not your friends and yes they would be delighted if you didn't bother to apply for the rebate.

You've got finesse. :D:cool:

I just tried it and your right, and it's way easier than going all the way through. Thanks a lot for sharing. Hubby and I each individually max out the rebate every time they run it, so that is very helpful.

Ain't life grand! There's nothing like a good crisis to learn a whole new way of getting things done. Now where did I put that Exacto knife...

I got my rebate form from academy website. On the very bottom of their page click on rebates. Scroll to winchester and Bob's your uncle

So you cut out the bar code and then problem w/ammo..

Where is your purchase proof now?? Nope.. No altered boxes.

That's most likely a moot point as ammo is very hard to return. It opens up a big reliability issue for the original vendor. He doesn't know if you altered it and should not in good faith resell it. Plus, it's hard for you to prove there was a problem with ammo in the first place. It's hardly an issue.

Rebates are optional. They don't have to give them, you don't have to use them. Menards big box offers 11% rebates on whole purchases once in a while, but it is only good on your next Menard's purchases. I shop Lowes.

It's "chickenspit" like this that always runs me off from these idiotic rebate deals. What would've really chapped my *** was their insistence that you wreck, or at least have to do minor surgery, on all the boxes.
IMO, the whole rebate scam is based on the hope that a certain percentage of people won't follow through. it's a gimmick not much different than cereal companies putting stupid toys inside the box so the kids will nag their parents to buy that brand.
