OK,, Mystery SOLVED!!
It was deer,, dragging their hooves,,
I have never noticed, I guess the deer do not lift their hooves and "TROT" like Budweiser Clydesdale's,,,
Also, this was an area that had 3 inches of solid ice, topped with 2-3 inches of snow.
Possibly the deer were being VERY careful walking?? They were walking on solid ice,,,
One pic shows my size 14 boot,, for scale,,
