I am left eye dominant , but can only shoot long guns from right shoulder. When first learning handguns , I delibertly maintain equal skill with either hand , because Elmer Keith and Bill Jordan both said it was a useful skill. If I've gotten lazy over the decades , left hand remains at least "plenty good enough" . I can shoot one handed with either hand, but never felt much need for two handed left hand. On those rare occasions when required by a cof , I have to stop and delibertly think about what goes where. When carrying two pistols on belt , I prefer a right and a left holster , rather than the more common strong side plus a crossdraw.


If access issues favor left handed wrenching , no problem , but with equal access will use right.

If I attempted to write with left , it would be ten times more illegable than my already illegable right handed.

HUMMMMM ! Reading the post I can see that some of you boys is real confused. I made up my mind not to be ambi or BI a long time ago---it just lessens the confusion and stop the in-fight between my left and right brain.
It is just much more simple to know what I am going to do.
Simplicity is the real spice of life.

All my life I've been very right handed. In the last few years, because of a degenerative peripheral motor nerve condition, I've been losing the ability to do things right handed and have had to learn to do stuff left handed. The problem there's, not only can it get frustrating but there's arthritis in my left thumb. Last trip to the doctor, the xray showed moderate to severe bone degeneration.
Anyway, my advice is to learn to do more stuff with both hands, ya never know.
I am ambi eyed and sometimes that can make shooting with both eyes open a bit of a challenge.

As far as knives go I cut right handed but eat left handed. If I had to scribe something with a knife I'd have to do it left handed but I would cut veggies right handed and carve right handed.

I thought a person was either ambidextrous or they weren't. I did not know there were degrees of ambidextrousity!

I guess I'm kinda - sorta ambidextrous myself!

I'm not ambidextrous, but I do many right handed tasks left handed. Like pole vaulting (not anymore) and eating. I play guitar and play tennis right handed. I shoot rifle right handed, but pistol I use my left eye. My Mom said I was leaning toward left handed but they 'trained' me to use my right. Maybe the name I'm looking for is 'screwed up'.

I am right handed, almost exclusively.

I do deal cards left handed and, in a pinch, I can swing a hammer left handed if the right arm is tired.
