I'm shore glad we don't have lousy shows like Y'all have. Could be the shows where guys don't see anything worthwhile have the stuff but the complainers can't tell a peach from a ****. Me, I'm a lookin' for a good new gun. I've decided I've got the winter depressions, so I'm goin' lookin' with green money in my hand.
Lee, the faller who runs this dog and pony show we call the forum sold me a 1950 target at a show a while back. Then I was gettin' mugged by GF last year and some guy comes along tryin' to conceal an old S&W. So I looked at it and realized it was a 1950 Military. So I bought it. Last Thanksgiving I sold some guy some grips, and the money was burnin' a hole in my pocket, so I bought a cute little Colt! Yep, one of those off brand revolvers. My partner Joe looked and said it had to be earlier than 1923 because it had plastic grips and that was when they stopped puttin' them on guns. Then of course one of my half crooked friends was wantin' money, so he made me a deal on a pair of 44s. One was so old Teddy Roooseevelt could have owned it. A little Triple Lock 4", and its modern partner, a 3rd Model with even newer plating. I didn't mind, the pair was cheaper than an honest fellar would've paid for just one.
Of course the feller here who complains we're all just scoundrels trying to bypass the background check might be right. I didn't need to do it on anything but the one sold by Lee. Those are always interesting transactions, but I dislike paying the fee. They don't need to do nothin' but view my pretty face on my carry license.
My plan for next weekend is to set and talk fer a spell with Charlie Sherrill. That and be amused at his son's antics, tryin' to cover 2 shows in a single day's time. Charlie and I try to cover the worlds problems in just a day. Bet we'd do a better job than the crooked politicians who get paid for it, too. Chances are lunch will be lousy, but we're carryin' enough body fat to survive without eatin too much.
Course, we've got to make the rounds. Visitin' half of creation we've met over the decades of this nonsense. If it was as bad as most of the misfits claim, the hall would be empty. Thing is, this is the February show. The folks who still have a job all get their income tax money back for this show. And they're smart enough to realize if they don't buy a gun, it'll be wasted on stuff. Me, I'm lookin for a M21 and a M1892, both Winchesters. My luck I'll find both at the same time. Gotta make hay when the sun shines. Won't be another big show for 2 full weeks!
Caje, instead of giving up on gun shows, why don't you just give up on lousy little ones? Meet up with Charlie and his boy and travel up Nawth, where the shows are better and folks wear coats in the winter?
I'm thinkin' its my more mature attitude, superior financing, extended knowledge of what a good gun looks like, and laid back approach is what makes the difference. Shore wish my worthless offspring would come along to tote all the junk I need. Its a lot more pleasurable that way.
And while I'm ramblin' here, I need a new knife. Been buyin' one or two a year for the last few decades. I'm wantin' one of those cheap Florida knives. Some kid named Randall took over from his daddy. We usually have a few dozen tables sellin' them. Course most of you figger those are like jerky, tshirts and flea market stuff. Bet your local gun store has those under glass, too.
