I'm going to sue all the dealers and manufacturers of the guns I used to own. I thought they could be useful in a defensive situation. Nope they will only kill loved ones.

What was I thinking. I need to rely more on trained law enforcement.

They need to arrest the producers of 20/20 and the guy who made the straw purchases at the gun show. He bought them with $5000 that they gave him to buy guns.

The fed agent was standing there looking at what they bought. He told them niether party had done anything illegal. Plus they handed them all over to local authorities to be destroyed when they were done.

"Hooray for Hollywood"!
I didn't see it (I'm at work) but from the sound of it, I saved an hour of my life I wouldn't be able to get back later. How could I have guessed? All I know is, the third time I was stuck up was the only time both parties were armed. And the outcome was FAR different than the first two, due to same?

The one thing that was said that is true is that Pahokee is a hole.
I camped on Okeechobee with a buddy four years ago and decided that it would be nice to have a bottle of Canadian whiskey.
An old woman at the campground named "Scotty" told me there was a liquor store in Pahokee but advised me that it was not a very nice place.
I'm 6'3" 235lbs and armed. I'm not looking for trouble and thought "How bad can it be".
I'm not exagerating, there must have been a hundred of them outside the liquor store. They were living large too. When I turned down the street I was subject to cat calls and harrasment. The last thing I wanted to do was to return to camp and declare myself to much of a coward to walk in and get a bottle.
That is exactly what I did.
I did not see any way to go in there and get out safely.
We could hear the caos at night. We even snuck up to the top of the levy and peeked in to Pahokee, it was wild.
It started out with loud music and turned into a night of police dogs, sirens and helicopter searches.
Truely something to see.
Regardless of what 20/20 says, I would not advise anyone to go to Pahokee unarmed.

Yeah I watched it and wasn't disappointed! A total load of bullshit from Diane and David Manure as I expected.

I especially loved the piece on the Florida ghetto, the ridiculous little black kid who wants Prez Obongo to help him out. I damn near puked.

The gun show segment was great though. It's fun to watch these insane libs when they talk about guns!

Happy Easter everyone

I watched the propaganda piece last night. Let me see if I got it straight. It is almost impossible for me to successfully defend myself with a handgun, but if I do try, I'll likely shoot an innocent bystander or a family member instead of the bad guy. Mere mortals just cannot develop such skills. However, if there is a gun in my home, a kid will find it and be able to shoot a playmate. Apparently, guns are useless, except in the hands of bad guys and kids. Did I understand them correctly???

Oh, and all guns are bad, bad, bad and I shouldn't have any.

I got almost physically ill with the babble/propaganda....

One simple question to them...

the bad guy is killing and is killing so "If even one life is saved" isn't it worth it?

They can't say that an armed citizen does not draw fire away from other innocent and slow the idiots down etc- but they can say that some innocent may be hit by a "good guy" - God forbid they would put the real blame on the criminals
icon_frown.gif
etc etc etc

they also only played out a couple of scenarios that are hard to get right even with training and not the many other scenarios where the deck is stacked into the defenders favor. And who in the heck are they to tell me I don't have the right to do anything but die like a sheep!

I gotta quit they pissed me off...

sad thing is the amount of sheeple that will buy the propaganda they are selling

and the whole 60000 kids died by guns over the last three years crap... take away the ones involved in crime and the numbers are minuscule...

alcohol kills over 100,000 people a year, where is the show on that?

I saw it also. I thought that it was just the same old tired lib Bologna that they have been selling for years. Did you notice that the guy that bought the guns at the show was driving a Prius....

Also who didnt know if an armed attacker bursts into a room and aims directly at you, you cant draw and fire fast enough, especially when you have a GIANT oversize shirt on. You know, the rule of twenty one and all that. Wow really a big surprise....

I did find interesting was how nice the blue Glock training guns work.

I may be setting myself up here.
A couple of things the show brought up were what I believe the NRA advocates.
Gun safety,in particular keeping guns secure from children. Not just about teaching kids not to touch but having adults keep the firearms secure.
The need for training to be effective in a bad situation. I suspect many who visit this site have an awareness of this but does the general public? My wife, not much of a shooter, watched the show and was surprised about the body's reaction to stress. Tunnel vision, reduced coordination, etc.
Many people have learned about firearms by watching TV,they've no idea of the skill needed to hit a target while on the move. I think the incident w/the store clerk and robbers shoot-out w/14(?) rounds fired and no hits on either side was a surprise to the "laymen".

I watched the whole lousy show with my blood pressure rising throughout. I made the same point about oversized shirts to my anti-wife beside me, to no avail. Not only were the shirts down low, the holsters were loose on their belts. There was a lot of play/take-up with the narrow belts and wide holster belt slits. Just more stacking of the deck.

My biggest complaint about the classroom shooter piece was they didn't give ANY alternative to having a gun and trying to use it. Even the uber anti producer and reporter didn't tote out the "call 911" cannard (though much later in the show they said something like "In your pocket you have one of the best survival tools -- your phone".

The worst part for me was the argument with my wife. She swears that with "all the school shootings since Columbine" etc., if only there were no guns there'd be no shootings. It's scary how a smart, common sense, non-liberal, but anti-gun person can seriously consider getting rid of ALL guns EVERYWHERE as a viable possibility, and mean it! I pointed out Ireland and the UK, relatively small countries on islands, and that they ARE banned there and there are almost daily shootings. I might as well have been talking to a wall.

By the reading of these posts, I am glad I didn't watch it. My BP would have skyrocketed, and I would have been screaming at my TV. I do have one question though. What network (Main stream) will air a program showing the truth about being armed in a society where criminals and gang members follow no laws?

Will there be a program that shows the statistics of the 2 million times per year that firearms are legally used to protect innocents from harm? When will this show air? So much for the "Fairness Doctrine".

Maybe the powers that be should work on a "Truthfulness Doctrine".

I was thinking the same thing, but I don't think it will ever happen.

BTW, 20/20 even managed a swipe at "the NRA's Eddie Eagle program". They took a group of kids in what looked like the 5 year old to 10 year old age range, and had an LEO give them a safety talk and show them an Eddie Eagle video. Then they put a real gun in among a bunch of toys and video taped the kids finding them and playing with the guns. Well really, do they expect kids not to get excited when finding a real gun in their toys? But does that mean kids should NOT be instructed about gun safety? If it's all about saving the children, if even one child is saved by seeing Eddie Eagle isn't that what we want? But 20/20 slips there slap at Eddie Eagle in like it's a totally irrelevant and useless program -- guns will always kill all kids, no matter what.

When it comes to "broken" immigration, these same people want us to restructure the laws to give illegals instant citizenship, cutting to the head of the line obeyed by legal immigrant applicants.

When it comes to "broken" health care, these same people want to cost us all trillions of dollars which will only guarantee we'll all have mediocre yet "equal" health care.

When it comes to "broken" mortgages, we have to pony up to bail out those who should not have had a mortgage in the first place.

When it comes to "broken" gun ownership, the responsible gun owners have increasingly burdensome restrictions and costs placed upon them.

See the pattern? There are no "broken" systems, just broken laws - the same laws that have stood the test of time yet are suddenly deemed "unworkable" because a select population simply refuses to follow them.
