If you could have only one gun (with slight twist)

If I could only pick one carry gun, I would pick the gun that I'm willing to carry all day every day. That would be the Ruger LCP which I carry all day every day now. Otherwise, I'd be picking a gun to leave home in the safe which isn't much of a carry gun. ;)

Since the Js are out I reckon a pair of Ks will work.
66 and 19 I really the NY reload.

Though I have been using the 27-2 lately. Not for extended periods of time though. I need suspenders for that. I will if I can just have one piece.

IF this is a "Cost is of no concern" comparo, then here are my two takes:

For my long gun, I'd use Aimpoint's T.338 Lapua with Google Glass. It's a self-aiming AR built around rwo specials for he upper and lower that, when mated, give it an effective range out to one mile and if you are wearing Google Glass , you can shoot it around corners.

For a handgun, I'll take a 30-round Excel M5.7 that fires 30 rounds of 5.7mm x 28 through a match-grade 8" badisruptorrrel. Looks like a cross between a Ruger Mark V and a Romulan Disruptor

Interesting question. I actually researched the threads here for this purpose, trying to decide on a new 586 4" S&W revolver or the classic square butt SS 686-3 4" used. So I chose the classic SS 686-3 4" used model after what I read on Smith's site here ...don't make 'em like that anymore ... don't have a URL how do ya post a pic? Throw it up here if I could ...

Pics - Concealed Carry

Here's the 3 Smiths I own:

Top to bottom:
*686-3 6" Distinguished Combat Midnite Black .357cal blackened over SS (limited run) 1989
*Model 2 Army .32 rim fire long dates to 1862 (good for CC :)
*686-3 4" SS .357cal for actual CC based on threads I read here

Especially like the Goncalo Alves grips and Square butts
Classic S&W ....

Love my G19, but my Shield 9 would probably be the most practical choice since I can easily conceal it no matter how I am dressed.

You buying the ammo? If so, Glock 29 hands down

I do buy the ammo and I do carry a Glock 29, but in this scenario it wouldn't be my choice.

I am in agreement with Phil. If I am limited to just one carry gun, it would have to be my Kahr CW380. It already comes with me every day either as a primary or backup. Wearing business formal clothing to summer casual clothing, I can carry my Kahr CW380.

Heck, I'm in my PJ's now and the Kahr is in my PJ pants pocket.

Since the handgun is used only to get to the long gun....

S&W 19 or 66 with Crimson Trace grips. Wilderness Instructors Belt, ESEE 3Mil.

You know I absolutely love my 1911 Commander .45acp and it's been flawless in fit, finish and service. But to cut it to one only I'm going to go with my Smith & Wesson M&P.40FS because with certain ammo, it performs better than the. 45, carries 15+1 AND with the change of just an $80 barrel, you can shoot .357sig. With a change of a barrel and a magazine, you've got a 9mm pistol. I carry 2 extra mags on my belt so I've got 46 rounds of .40sw protection. So with not a lot invested, you get 3 different calibers. And after breaking the pistol in and giving it a trigger job, it shoots exceptionally good. Even better is adding Apex ignition parts to them! But that's my pick for only one. YMMV

CC Holster + Question S&W model change

GALCO makes a really nice high ride holster (see my pic) for CC and hey it's made in the USA.
Just curious, not to digress, but does anyone know exactly why S&W decided to go to the round butt instead of staying w/the square on the 686 series?
The square fits perfectly in my hand is what made me ponder this - I bought the USED 686-3 SS here in the holster ... and they should consider remaking some of these New as a limited run perhaps ... the round butt somehow doesn't seem as comfortable ...

If my S&W 638 is no longer an option, I'd go with my Beretta Vertec Inox. It shoots beautifully and I like it enough that the size wouldn't bother me. Hmmm i think I might have to buy myself a new holster and give it a try one of these days.
