I’m heartbroken - 18DAI has left the building

Wow, this really surprised me reading this. He was such a knowledgeable and helpful member, and way too young. I'm going to miss his input and comments on here. He's the one that got me interested in the 4516, which I carry daily..

Prayers for his close friends and family members. It reminds me how fragile life is.. RIP John.

This just sucks. John has been a friend through the forums ever since I joined 9 years ago. He was one of the first people to reach out in my first S&W semi auto acquisition, a model 3906. Over the years we've shared many mutual "likes" and have shared some great stories/knowledge via PM's. His contributions to the forum and to all of the members here were respected and cherished, I don't think he ever created a conflict in a thread or post… ever.

60 years old is too young and this all comes as a shock to me. After getting some bad personal news this weekend, I'm going to have a tough week/weeks processing all of the heartache I've had lately. I guess I need to load up some of my cherished 1st/2nd/3rd gens and get out to the range sometime in the next few days and send some lead down range in memory of his life.

I hope his time in heaven is spent enjoying all of the grail Smith's he's had or wanted and looking down on the forums and our members with our best interests and good health in mind.

Cheers my friends

I am truly saddened. I never had the pleasure of personally meeting John. Like many, I got to know him through his contributions to this forum, and subsequent conversations. He was a rock solid man of the highest integrity and generosity. I will miss him truly. Prayers for his family.

Rest in Peace, John. You left this world better than you found it.

John was a friend, a good guy, and our resident third generation Smith expert. He's been generous with his time, always quick to post an answer, text, or take my call. I am glad to have met him. Also, like Jeppo, I am glad to have one of 18DAI's guns, a 2.5" Model 19, blued. RIP John.
