I’m heartbroken - 18DAI has left the building

I'm in total shock and unbelievably sad upon seeing this about John. It comes on the heels of losing my wife of 15 years to Parkinson's disease at the end of January, and is especially poignant.

Over the years we PM'ed each other about our mutual interests in 3rd Gen's. Upon hearing that I had acquired a 1076 and was looking for a set of curved factory grips for it (not an easy find for the frame mounted decockers)... he sent me a set out of the blue.

Our favorite discussion topic was the 4566 Melonite that I obtained and was factory lettered as having been stored in S&W inventory for 10 years before finally being sold and shipped out.

Members come and go... but this one really hurts.

Condolences and blessings to John's family... goodbye and rest easy, my friend.

I never knew the man but it sounds like that is my loss. 60 years of age is way to early. He is now in a place that never has a shortage of ammo.

Such sad news, rest in peace John. Condolences to John's family and friends, he'll be missed.

I didn't have the honor of knowing John but if his handle was a reference to an army MOS, 18D is a SF medic, a very special skill indeed that would seem to fit what has been said of him here.

It was a reference to his job, at one point. 18DAI = 18th Judicial District, District Attorney Investigator.
