I’m heartbroken - 18DAI has left the building

I had just moved to NC about ten years ago and was always on here reading. There was something that I always liked in the sell section. As I was walking around a gun show in Winston- Salem I saw a man carrying the gun I had been looking over. Sure enough, I struck up a conversation and it was him. He was very nice and very knowledgeable. He will be missed

With the amount of knowledge he had & shared, and the quality of his posts, I had always pictured him as someone in their mid-late seventies at least; I am rather stunned to learn we were almost the same age.

I will be praying my Rosary for him and his family today.

I was one of those, and looked thru this sub section, and couldn't find anything. I couldn't believe it and I had to post. John was one of the first that responded to my initial questions early on when I didn't know what a gen3 meant. I have since acquired a good collection of those thanks to his help and notes. For me, I recently lost my wife of 20 yrs to cancer and when I learned of this, well.. from a loved one to a distant friend, I guess it hit me a little close to home and I had to post my condolences, apologies, I understand if a moderator needs to move this to an appropriate forum. It always made me smile when I saw.. "7+1 Rounds of hope & change"

I don't post often, and I rarely visit the Lounge area of the forum, so I only recently learned of his passing. It saddened me when I found out he had passed. I just had to post a comment. He encouraged to me to post after I became a member. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. The number of tributes to him in this and other threads is a testament to his character. My favorite quote of his was "bet your life reliable" when referring to a particular 3rd gen model. He will be missed.

Sympathies, and Really surprised to see this. He was a great resource that always had time to share his experiences here for us. He will be greatly missed. That guy is the reason I have a 4506, and 4506-1 as I have read his threads about different variants many times!

What a sad loss. Never met the man but felt like I knew him well as he would always reply to pm's with graciousness and enthusiasm. Gonna miss having him around to provide valuable info and insight on all things S&W. Condolences to his family.

Oh my, what a loss to his family and this forum. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. His knowledge and willingness to share is unparalleled. And I never knew his name until now. God Speed!
