I’m heartbroken - 18DAI has left the building

Over the last few days I have read all the wonderful comments concerning 18DAI. Needless to say I was shocked with his passing! I sat wondering how to respond to the tragic news of John's passing. I only knew him from this forum. He was a man of great knowledge concerning S&W 3rd gens and he shared his knowledge with me like he did with everyone.

This morning as I opened my email on this forum, I looked at who had emailed me. Not surprising I had 4 emails from 18DAI that I had saved! I valued his input and knowledge! I along with others from this forum will truly miss John and his knowledge! RIP John! Thoughts and prayers are extended to his family!

God Bless 18DAI and his family! I will never forget his "7 plus 1" tag.

With sad Cheers!!!
David

18DAI, John, you will definitely be remembered. Appears you were active right up to the end, and had a heck of a life. Went out "with your boots on" so to speak. Our best, blessings, and condolences to your family; they can be proud of you.

His contributions, I don't know about elsewhere, but in the S&W Semi Auto Pistols sub forum, have been immense. So much of the knowledge he shared - I just haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

Missed, but perhaps more importantly, fondly remembered as well.

He gave me a lead on a .40 Ltd, and super nice about it. I'm guessing the guys at Cherry's guns will miss him too. Always positive and informative, just excellent posts. RIP

I feel as if he were a friend although we'd never met. John had a wealth of knowledge that was freely shared. He and his wisdom will be sorely missed. My prayers are with his loved ones. And as an aside, it is sobering to me that he was such a relatively young man, a full ten years younger than I. His passing is a sobering reminder (if I ever need one) that I walk this earth only in God's grace.

Didn't know 18DAI personally, but he was clearly a valued member of our S&W board.

Over the years I did read many, many of his posts. They covered various topics and were always filled with helpful info relevant to the particular issue.

May he R.I.P.

18DAI

A sad loss for us all... He always had interesting insight and commentary for this forum. Sincere condolences for his family.
