I'm impressed by Glocks.....

The local Po-Po shootists manage to shoot themselves in the butt about once a month...

"Po-Po shootists"?? What the...?

I've absolutely no idea what that is, but I laughed out loud when I read it! It just looks like it's funny, and it sounds even more funny when you say it out loud.

Last time I had fired a Glock was a Gen 2 17 in 1998. The trigger sucked, it didn't point right, and it recoiled harsher than the metal framed guns of the day.

Recently a coworker let me shoot his Gen 3 17L and I quite enjoyed it. These days I can pick up about anything and shoot it well.

A Glock 10mm may be in my future...someday.

That they are "perfection" is a real stretch and a long term marketing gimmick. What they are is a simple, practical, and affordable option.

All that I've found necessary are a Glock-30 and S&W J-frames for function and a couple 90+ year-old Colt 1911s as works of art.
But I've got the hots for the new Glock-41 w/MOS whenever it hits the local shelves.

I never understood the grip angle thing. I can only guess that it's a matter of what you are used to. My 17L points like a dueling pistol, and with my eyesight that really helps. The first time I shot it, both my friend (an ex-cop), and I shot the long Glock better than my Browning High Power. It has never jammed. It's a lot easier to manipulate. I don't have to worry nearly as much about the elements. My BHP is pretty. But when the zombies come over the hill, the Glock will get the nod.
Glock has shot itself in the foot with the "Perfection" nonsense. But firearms history will show just what a game-changer the design has been, both in it's success and in its imitators. Gaston Glock was not the inventor that Browning was. But, he was a savvy engineer who expertly integrated a lot of ideas to make what has been the most successful pistol in military service worldwide since the Browning/Saive High Power's days of glory.

I don't know if I'm the only one but I find them incredibly difficult to take down. Much prefer a lever. Fits my big hands better.

You may never hear of a "First gen G 17 unfired NIB" sale on an auction site.... You will more than likely never hear of a Glock "safe queen".... Because they aren't made for those reasons.....

I believe there are quite a few Glock Collectors, and they have safe queens that are unfired, etc. Check out Glocktalk, and some of the other forums specifically for the 'ugly' pistols.

It's a derogatory ghetto slang for cops.

I don't find glocks to be all that boxy. The fact that they don't have different cutouts make them appear more box like. The -G17 is 1.18 in thick while...
-Sig 226 is 1.5 in thick.
-HK vp9 1.32 in thick, P30/P2000 1.37 in, USP 1.26 - 1.38
-FNS is 1.55
-S&W 5906 1.18 like the Glock
-Walther PPQ 1.3 in
But because some guns are slightly rounded towards the top it makes them seem thinner.

and I want a handgun that I am absolutely, positively convinced will fire and feed perfectly I go for my Glock 19....Glocks are not a good choice, IMHO, for new shooters though because they lack a manual safety. The local Po-Po shootists manage to shoot themselves in the butt about once a month with their .40 Glocks while reholstering them (with their finger on the trigger, of course).
Wow must be a lot of turn over at that department with all those guys on medical leave

Took my new Glock 22 to the range the other day. 7 - 10 yards, PMC and Ultramax remanufactured ammo. Shooting off hand.

3 distinct groups while trying to figure out where it shoots. Turns out it's sighted in for the top of the sights instead of the dot

No gun is utterly dependable not even a Glock. The Glock forums have just as much bitching as any other forum. Glock has been very clever in their marketing strategy promoting Glock as utterly dependable, which is BS. Rolls Royce used to have a policy that if you had a breakdown you would get your car fixed and you were never billed therefore there was no evidence of a breakdown. I can understand that some people like them for whatever reason but they are no different from a Sig, M&P or H&K as far as reliability goes except for the price.

I don't "get" Glock collecting, to each their own. To me a Glock is like a Toyota Camry. Great tool, nothing special to look at, definitely not a trailer queen.

I do have a friend with a 1 of 1,000 "New World Order" G17 that is mildly collectible. He uses it as a bedside gun...:D

Yea I don't get the Glock collection either but then again to me a Glock is a Glock and a revolver is a revolver. So collecting guns is kinda weird.

It seems to be a nearly perfect design. I think the ONLY problem I have with them is the shape. Too boxy. If they come out with a smoother shaped version I'd like them a lot better, maybe even enough to own one.

Even though I don't see it as "boxy", I could overlook that in favor of performance. And if there's one thing Glocks do very well, it's perform.

Lots of people haven't seen the light...yet. But a Glock will do it, all day, any day, everyday and be ready for the next time you need one gun that works.

I've never seen a modern S&W revolver that doesn't fit that very same description. If I really think I will need 12 rounds I can carry two guns.

Alternatively, I'm pretty doggone sure I have pistols that are equally reliable as well.

Jus' sayin'.....Glocks are great but they are not the end of the equation.

I had to force myself to like my Gen 3 G 19, ended up shooting it as well as I could. When I picked up the Gen 4 G 19 it felt like a totally different pistol. IMO, much improved yet not perfect.

Sometimes we have to adapt to the weapon instead of it adapting to us.
