IMPORTANT news on New Jersey magazine ban

The District Court ruled on September 28, 2018 to deny a preliminary injunction on the New Jersey Law that reduced the limit on magazine capacity from 15 to 10 rounds. This means the new ban is in effect and the grace period to get rid of any magazine from 11 to 15 rounds will end soon.

According to the NRA-ILA article the District Court did rule that magazines greater than 10 were in common use, but according to the article, upheld the ban under what lawyers call "intermediate scrutiny."

People can't just move - it's not realistic. And, besides, the good people moving from the bad states just surrenders the fight in those states. We keep pulling our lines of resistance back and surrendering territory, we'll all be living in Idaho - which btw, is pretty darn nice place to live.

I'll comply... those magazines will go to Pennsylvania until I make my move to Maine. Not modifying magazines that were already modified/purchased (at a higher cost than standard magazines 10 or 30 rounders). Especially not modifying my FBI 15 round 10mm magazine. When I relocate, I'll keep the magazines I want (M1A 15s are nice, my cut AR magazines... I'll put the others up for cheap and restock with higher capacity; my pinned AR and AK magazine... I might just put paint rings on them, and use for function testing).

In regards to staying to keep the pro-gun voice... hasn't worked in all these years. The NJ groups are splintered and work against one another, or they sell off our rights to get specific favors. So, I'll go with a job I want, in a state that respects my rights. Let all the people who vote per the aid they receive stay here... at a point, those paying the bill will all be gone.

I'm still stuck here for a while in NJ due to family issues. In the event a person wanted to "modify" a couple of magazines to "comply" due to the fact that there are no commercially available mags for some firearms, has Mr. Murphy given us clear guidelines of what constitutes acceptable "modification" of said items? (yeah, right! )To date I haven't run across specific acceptable methods, only vague descriptions and terms.
Paying a gunsmith to do so is likely to be cost-prohibitive, and even then what I have seen seems to make it vague for them to be sure of the legality of one chosen method or another.

My preferred and favorite handguns simply don't seem to sell ten rounders, thereby restricting my constitutional rights by going AROUND the 2A wordings. ( I think)

To be honest, I don't know. I believe it is just "permanently pinned to 10 rounds." I've seen people/FFLs do epoxy, rivets, and blind pins (or combinations of those). My favorite was the PMAGs that were cut to 15 length, and the follower was held by roll pins (why I like the 15 round M1A magazines... as they are shorter than 20s). I am going to Maine in April for two weeks, then FLETC until August. After that, I'm gone. While it sounds cold, I really stopped caring for NJ gun owners after I sent in my ballot for the upcoming election (going on a cruise that week). When you are discussing the legality of NJ law and making a "firearm" AR pistol, and NJ gun owners tell you that you should just mind your own business instead of trying to help others who don't know the law... it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Same people that want to disregard it are likely the same people who went home instead of voting in November.

Yep, been on NJGF longer than here. Still no truly clear answers there either. It's almost as if they didn't WANT to let us know what qualifies.
With Jersey's exemption only policies on gun laws, I shouldn't wonder I guess.

I can't really blame you for "not caring". It is frustrating to keep beating our heads against this unrealistic judiciary mindset. Bail out while you can, I only hope to be able to follow. Wifey is on our side, but has her aging Mom to think about, so until she's no longer a issue,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This is really sad, but in truth, it can (and does) happen here in Indiana, too. We have municipalities here that circumvent the state preemption law, just because they know they have an upper hand against the private individual who normally cannot afford to fight them. It's just another example of the actions of those who are determined to tear our country apart over issues that don't amount to a thing, just because they can acquire the political power to do it.

You'll never get a clear answer no matter who you ask. People called the NYSP when the Safe Act was rammed down our throats, and they had no idea what was legal or not.
It is by design.
