Eyes are not quite as good as they used to be, so I thought I'd try and make the FS more visible. Was going to try Testor's gloss white or white nail polish, but thought first I'd try something I'd used on other sights, Scotchlite (or equivalent) reflective tape, which is used for auto detailing and stop signs (where they overprint the red using transparent ink.). It has quite an aggressive and permanent adhesive once it has set up, so it should be OK for a non-carry piece.
I had thought of relieving the rear (sloping) side and making an angled face for the tape or paint, then continuing the slope down to the base, but decided not to alter it. The ideal setup might be to mill off the narrow blade, cut a dovetail into the base and install the Skinner FS I found in my box of bits, then shape/trim as required and re-blue/black, but I don't have a milling machine (yet...) and don't feel comfortable doing it by hand so this will have to do for now. Unfortunately my local range has shut down due the coronavirus so it may be a whil before I can try it on targets, but it shows up outside pretty well.
