I know you folks have probably done this DOB stuff to death but I just inherited an S&W 357 Magnum. All of my Smiths are of recent manufacture and this is my first older gun. I'm getting the new Supica and Nahas 3rd edition as a Christmas gift, but it aint Christmas yet.

It is marked as a model 65-3 and the 5 looks as if it was stamped in upon final assembly. There is also a number 71593 on the crane with E29 stamped just above and upside down. The butt is stamped AUC5XXX. It has a 4" barrel.

It is in beautiful condition and came with a box of 357 Magnum rounds with 10-12 rounds missing. I'm betting that's all he ever fired through it. I don't think he purchased it new because we could not find the box for it and all his other guns had one.

I would like to know the approximate DOB.
