Inherited My Dad's Collection. Need Some Experts

Some really nice, desirable pieces you have shown.

I understand that you said you are not looking to sell any, but if that should change, my advice is to find a REPUTABLE consigner ( there is one right on here) or auction house, and let market set value.

Pristine sets with everything there are the most desirable to find, and what true collectors ( unlike me!) look for, and can afford.

Anything else you care to share, I'd love to see and enjoy, as would most others on here. Maker does not matter. We appreciate nice Rugers etc as much as nice Smiths!

I'm sorry about your dad. It's hard when these things happen. I wish you and your family a very Happy New year, and it's great that you have sons to inherit that great stuff!!!.

My last suggestion would be to have that all appraised for insurance reasons.

Nor Cal, welcome to the forum from Oregon! My condolences on your loss. Your father sure liked the best! As far as mentioning Ruger on a S&W site, we like all guns! Especially with pictures. There is a section of the site for "Firearms and Knives, other brands". Post in there and the guys on here will show up with excellent information. Those are some very, very fine firearms. I hope you enjoy them with your kids. A good way to remember the man. Oh, and congrats to your middle boy. Thank him for his service for me, please. Once again, welcome! Pull up a chair and we'll pour you a cup of coffee.:)

A secure gun room can be done on an interior room with no windows. Doors should be strong as well as the frame. Building it around a stairwell access is a plus. Reinforcing the walls is something your builder can do.

Welcome to the Forum, and I'm sorry for the loss of your dad. That hurts a lot.
You really are gonna have the time of your life going through, checking, recording, wiping down, etc., all of those guns. Yes, please post pictures as you find time. I prefer to look at pics of nice firearms over girlie pics, but, then, I've had my time when I was younger! I'm only 65 in 2 months, but interests have changed! (Dangit!!!)

As stated previously, you are wise in, and to be admired for, keeping your Dad's collection. And, God bless your boy.

I've got a feeling your dad left those things to you because he loves you and wanted you and your children to have them. He obviously could have sold them. I have a few things from my mom and dad and always feel the connection when I see them. Not everyone can say things like I love you, but we sometimes see it in their works.

Might want to keep it to yourself like your dad did thats alot of money in an easily transported package. My father in law passed and i came into some guns from him about 18 months after they had been beaten up enough to have to have some fixed make sure your careful about rust and such inside the barrels .Would take pictures of all the serial numbers of all of them so you know what you have in case, dont put it off its a pain but gonna realy need them if you ever need them.
