Lee Marvin from a publicity shot for "M Squad". I am a big fan of film noir and thirties through the fifties cop and gangster movies and tv shows. Interestingly, Marvin carried a Colt Cobra, which was a cutting edge snubby in the fifties, but this shot has him posing with what looks like a (probably pre number) 357 magnum 3 1/2" or 4" bbl Smith and Wesson. I have all of the episodes of "M Squad" on DVD. Havent made it all the way through yet, but work on them every now and then. Also have all the episodes of "The Untouchables " (Robert Stack version) as well. just found out that Amazon Prime has dozens of noirish films as part of the membership, so I will keep busy for a while.

I particularly liked Marvin though, because like so many of his generation, he joined the service during war time, and was wounded in the South Pacific. Marine Corps, if I remember correctly.

Plus we look a little alike. Both have white hair.

My avatar is a Marksman lapel pin from the 1906 NRA National Matches. This was in Sea Girt NJ. It's the last time the Nationals were held anywhere but Camp Perry in Ohio where they are still held to this day.

I found it in the bottom of a box lot at an auction years ago. I have never seen or even heard of someone having another one. Not even a picture of one. As far as I can tell it's pretty rare.

Mine is just a photo of my table at a local show your stuff get together. I have added a few more so need to upgrade the photo...(don't tell Mrs. JSR III) every time I bring in a new one I just say what, that old thing...

Yeah, I know what you mean: " I was checking some of the guns in the back of the safe today, and I'd forgotten all about this one!"

I'm thinking about changing to this one, which appeared in an online album on the local sports website the other day. Apparently the sports photographer has a sense of humor. I heard the camera clicking, but wasn't paying attention to which way the lens was pointed. Like I said earlier, my current avatar kinda looks like me anyway . . .

This is a S&W site and I own a model 29. The Dirty Harry franchise was the reason I bought it. The M29 was my first S&W, still have it in the wood presentation box with the factory cleaning kit. Should probably switch to something more original. Maybe some day.

Soccer gives me the same reaction!

My avatar is the infamous old codger Carl Fredricksen from the movie "Up"!

It just seemed appropriate given my advanced age, which I can no longer ignore or hide. :)
