So, I'm getting nagged - first by Yahoo!, and now by the Windows auto-update feature - to install IE8.

I declined.

I tried 8 when it was in beta some months ago, and had such awful luck with it, I had to uninstall it, and reinstall 7.

Am I needlessly dragging my heels? Should I go ahead and bite the bullet and take the download to 8 now?

I fired IE in ANY version 6 years ago due to their incompetent fraudulent and crappy features.

Firefox serves me well with no issues.

okay i'm curios. how much better? easyer, and will i have to change everything on startup? don't know if it makes a differance but i use verison broadband. heard very little about firefox but am interested. thanks.

I just did the update to 8.0 today. So far everything is running fine. I did a little checking and found that some thought 8.o ran slower than 7.0, I don't see that. In fact, it appears that for me 8.0 is working faster.

The onscreen interface is only slightly different than the 7.0. The look of the tabs is slightly different and the favorites button combines favs and add to favs in stead of two separate buttons. So far I think it is OK.

This upgrade seems to be taking IE a little closer to Firefox, which I also run. I should probably use Firefox more often, but I have been using IE since the 2.0 version.

I used to run nothing BUT Firefox at home, but some business aps refused to work on it, and I got tired of bouncing between the two, so I threw in the towel and submitted to the blue "e".

Now that I'm no longer working where I was having those problems, perhaps I should try to coerce the family into using Firefox? I do have it installed ... as well as Apple Safari, its just that all my folders and favorites are set up on IE.

Hey, anyone use the Google "Chrome" browser? That's one I haven't tried yet.

I'm using it now, and have had pretty good success. Like Firefox in the early days, some things don't work quite right with it. It also seems a little slow when you first start it up, but once you get going it screams right along. Overall I'm happy with it, and I like the added security of using one of the less popular browsers.

I've been running IE8 on two machines for at least a month now with no issues, one is an XP machine, the other a Vista machine.

Firefox is a good browser, but I've run across some sites where it doesn't read the HTML code the same way IE does and the sites appear a bit out of whack.

My machine is 64 bit Visa. I recently installed MSIE 8 and when I started it up it told me that there was a conflict with my HP printer drivers which might cause MSIE 8 to crash. So I shut it down and went back to using Fire Fox. Never any problems with that.

I installed it just this week. I tried the IE7 from Microsoft's automatic updates and none of the versions they sent as updates worked. I couldn't even go to Microsoft's own website. So I uninstalled it & and stuck with IE6. But so far IE8 is working great and no problems yet.

I have IE8 on all puters , all have XP. i have used Firefox and really didnt notice much difference other than a few plug-ins that had to be loaded, now im just using IE8.went into tools and view and change the way the page looks and shut off the multi tabs deal and have had zero problems with it.
