I've been looking for an inverted holster like the Berns-Martin for some time. The only thing I've found is one that holds two - one on each side. That would be fine except for the expense of buying another j frame. Any suggestions?

Howdy,

I've got a Bucheimer that I would part with for $50 plus shipping. It is the type with the elastic like a Bianchi.

I could take some pictures of it if you're interested.

Here are the 2 best pictures. It says 188-11 Bucheimer Valencia CA Clark.

It fits my Cheifs Special and 642 just right.

many many years ago these were extremely popular in law enforcement circles, that was until the advent of trigger shoes. more than one cop/detective shot themselves in the armpit because they tried to stuff their j-frame into this holster with the trigger shoe on it. I used to carry a shoulder holster for my j-frames but always preferred the conventional horizontal type. I was always afraid with these that I may one day end up seeing my revolver on the floor because it fell out.

The Bianchi holster you have in mind is a 9-R.
The 9-R is for a "J" frame revolver. A 9-R 2 is for a "K" frame size gun. I have used a 9-R 2 with a Security Six and an SP-101.
This holster can be found, SOMETIMES, on
e-bay.
Go to e-bay and type in Bianchi holsters and scroll down.

Security!! True story: Young Irish Chicago cop is off duty, in a honky-tonk. Juke box is playing. He strikes it up with a sweet young thing and they end up dancing on the dance floor. He's quite the dancer. His off duty revolver slips to the floor, and he unknowingly kicks it. And it flies under the juke box.

Worst part, they have to unplug the music and move the box so he can retrieve his weapon in front of everyone there. If you know cops, you know the other guys will be ribbing him about this until the day he retires, and long after. And clowns who never met him will be posting the story on internet forums.

At the moment, I am wearing a Bianchi 9-R, which happens to hold my Model 60. As to security, it has a very strong spring clip which retains the weapon like a bear holding a salmon. If the tension is properly adjusted, there is absolutely no way that gun is going to depart the holster by itself. It takes a pretty good tug to get it free of the holster, but it is still very fast. I've had this particular holster for about 35 years, and never had any problem with it. Definitely one of my favorite methods of J-frame carry. They're worth looking for (probably on E-bay, I believe this excellent holster is no longer in production)>
