Hi guys

I've been shooting revolver in IDPA from time to time with some success. I've been thinking of branching out to shooting revolver in IPSC as well.

I've read through the rulebook and I can't seem to find anything relating to where the reloads/pouches for the revolver must be on the belt. I saw something for the mag pouches but when you google search images you see guys running moonclips almost from the holster all the way around their waistline.

I'm thinking of getting a Speed-E-Rack since I'll be starting ICORE soon as well. So that way I have one piece of kit that it is good to go for IPSC and ICORE.

I hate to ask such an "obvious" question on a forum and not just ask my local club guys but no one shoots revolver locally and I don't want to show up and get sent home for not having the right gear straight of the bat.

So where on the belt can they be set and would the Speed-E-Rack be IPSC legal?

For USPSA, there is no restrictions on position of holster and other equipment in revolver division. ( pg. 89 of the USPSA rule book)

Not sure the same holds true for IPSC. Some of their rules are a little different.

That's they thing. I do know USPSA is a bit different with some rules. However there is too little written about the revolver division in the current rulebook. I mean I can make assumptions but we all know that assume does. Makes an *** out of u and me. :)

Would love to shoot some USPSA just for the revolver rules allowing 8 shot revolvers in minor at least. In IPSC 8 shot revolvers are allowed but you have to reload after 6 shots or incur a penalty per shot after that.

There is no rule in USPSA or IPSC on where to keep your moons. I run a North Mountain clip holder right on my front for easy pickup. Been doing it that way for years and it is legal for IPSC and ICORE matches.

The Speedy Rack is a real good way to go. All your loads come from the same location so you don't have to look for your moons.

I shot some USPSA matches with a 8 shooter this year. It changes the game quite a bit. IMO it makes the courses of fire a little more balanced and user friendly for the wheel gun shooters.

But, it makes my 40 & 45 Six Shooters steamed powered and obsolete .. Just like my old open sight, single stack compensated .45..

Good Luck in IPSC ,,

Thanks for the information guys. I guess it's time to get a christmas present from me to me. Speedy rack for the win.

old&slow, I hear you. I've moved to IPSC so I can shoot my 625 which isn't IDPA legal since it is a 5" Model of 1989. So been running my 686 for IDPA. There was just no way in hell I'm going to chop down my 1989 because IDPA is a bit restrictive with their barrel lengths. thought about it many times but just couldn't go through with it.

Now that I'm getting into ICORE I'm sure my 627 will see more service and I've heard rumours that IPSC is also going to go the route of USPSA and allow 8 shot revolvers in minor. Which means my 627 will probably start seeing service there if I don't end up just getting a 929 that is.

You will be fine with a Speed-e-Rack, that's what I have been using for years. I think that Elliot is making them with magnets now, he used to have the clips retained by friction from O-rings. The stainless Hearthco clips don't stick to the magnets very well so if you order any of the high quality Hearthco clips you will want to get the blued steel version to stick to the magnets better. With a 6 shooter almost any clip will be OK, a 625 is very forgiving on reloads. Once you go to an 8 shooter you will want the better moon clips to be competitive. Dave Hearth makes the best clips hands down. Steel challenge is a lot of fun with the 8 shooters so you will want to keep that option open. Any cheap clip will do for Steel Challenge since you should not be doing any reloads on the clock there unless you are really messing up.

Thanks for that handy bit of information, TLE.
Will definitely keep that in mind when ordering.
