They will get your information anyway. Better to have a large number of license holders.

I can state that the only mistake I made in getting my NC CHP was not to have applied for it the day I turned 21. (55 now...)

No better time than now ........ the more the better. Concealed carry permit applications with my local sheriff's dept. are at an all-time high from what I've been told.

Several years ago when I received mine it took less than 10 days.

In the meantime, get your guns, belt, holsters and ammo squared away by test firing your chosen carry ammo in your weapons and carrying around the house. Once you figure out which holsters for which gun/s as well as where and how to carry, you'll be ready to hit the ground running once your license arrives.

I don't want to sound like a paranoid conspiracy theory nut, but based on my experience as a police investigator, I would not be surprised to learn that "they" are signed on as members of this and other gun forums.
