When I lived in Atlanta, Alpharetta and Kennesaw were the outer edge of tolerable civilization. Woodstock may as well have been a farm in western Nebraska. Those areas were the affordable housing, not the upper class.

There are a lot of people who need to feel superior and if the only way they can feel that way is to scoff at where someone lives, there has got to be some huge insecurity they're hiding.

I don't judge people based on where they're from. I served with people from all over and all sorts of walks of life. Trust me it doesn't matter where you're from but how you were raised.

or have you noticed that some people look down their noses at someone who lives in the south. I am not talking about south of the Mason Dixon, although that is certainly true. I am talking about smaller geographical locations. I moved around a lot during my career and I saw this more than once. We had moved to DE from VA and were at a cocktail party and were introduced to another couple that had moved from VA. When I said we had lived Waynesboro the lady lifted her nose a notch and said they were from "Northern Va". Well excuse me. While in DE it was common to hear people talk about "lower slower DE". I guess that was city folk talking about the agricultural region. It seems this goes on in other places; south side of Chicago, Atlanta, southern parts of Ohio and other states. Is there an explanation, coincidence, or my imagination?

I have a friend from VA, he told me that NOVA or Northern Virginia is BS and that the snotty people who live up that way created it to separate themselves from the rest of the state. Also its not polite to use the term NOVA when talking about VA geography. Since it is and always will be a small muscle care put out by Chevy that literally means NO GO In Spanish.

My two cents worth actually my friends two cents but I agree. Who cares where your from its the person your talking too not the place right.

Look down at me because I live in the south you can keep your high taxes your high cost of living and your cold *** weather. Besides I am pretty sure more Northerners migrate down south then southerners do North. Their called TOURONS and TRANSPLANTS.

Its fine if you come down south just leave your yuppie politics behind. People move from one area because they are fed up with the laws, taxes, politics, etc. And when they get down south our to a place with out said laws, taxes, politics, etc. they try to change it back like it was where they came from. JUST STAY THEIRE better yet STAY AWAY!

I'm a dark skinned, American Indian, disabled factory worker and my wife's a white Italian and works as a home health care aid. Nothing fancy, just honest work. When we tell people we're from West Virginia, they look at us and say, "you don't look like brother and sister."

That's not nice of them to say. I spent a summer on the Crow Reservation in Montana, I learned alot about Native American Culture, and the Little Big Horn. I found what I learned to be very interesting especially when learning it from a Crow Indian and not a history book. I have personally seen a sun dance and have cruised timber on sacred land. I felt fortunate to be allowed to be at these places that where held in such high regard by their people and their ancestors.

The closer you get to D.C., the more you find this affliction. People who live in metro D.C. have a tendency to think that the world revolves around that marble lined sewer, and that nothing really happens outside of that rat hole; when the exact opposite is the truth.

It all boils down to long held stereotypes. Movies, TV, music all give those northern folk the impression that just because Southerners speak a little slower and with an "accent" that we aren't very intelligent. Add into the real issues of country folk not always being up on the latest Apple App craze or the newest techno gizmo, and they think we're still in the 50's.

Add in the fact that we cling to guns and religion and they really get worked up. Just remind them if it weren't for Southerners/country folk, they would bet stuck with just their bottled spring water for dinner.

As all good Texans know: a Yankee comes down to the south to visit, spend their money and leaves. A Damn Yankee likes it so much they stay.

Why do people in California refer to Texas as Baja Oklahoma??? People in Oklahoma do not know how to make good chili perhaps? People in California do not think anyone in Okalahoma likes chili?

And is it true that a bottle of Texas Chili was found in a 3,000 year old Egyptian Pyramid, and it was still very tasty to old Texans whose primary taste buds were already burned off of their tongues.

How does someone fall in love with Long Horn Cattle, Fire Ants, and Water Moccasins.

How does someone drive by a pile of manure, take a deep breath, and say “ahh, good old country air” (Oops that was my mother’s aunt in Iowa - the one who would take off her shoes when she worked in the barn because it‘s easier to rinse off bare feet) (a pre WWI tradition?)

Is it true that the people in Missouri did not need to leave the state to fight the civil war. Thousands of battles they just seemed to choose up sides and fight. When the war was over there was no place for one side to go home?

Why do people in Florida protect “endangered” alligators. If one little “assault weapon” lunged up out of the water and ate a little kid, or a puppy, thousands would be screaming.

The "owner class" is not relegated to any one socioeconomic or geographic status.Meaning,have had poorer folks treat me with disrespect just like filthy rich.Just sayin.
