Is Taurus still getting bad vibes?

Has the leopard changed its spots? No. If anything, I see MORE complaints about current Taurus products. Some say that Rossi has higher QC, although Taurus now owns both companies.

Still, some slip through that give good service. My barber has one, but hasn't shot it much. She bought it before she married a cop, but he really isn't a gun person, either. Probably shoots his SIG when he has to qualify. Did buy a rifle for his car, though.

They do Carneval and Mardi Gras and some food and maybe the Olympics very well down there. Marvelous music. But guns? Only maybe, in my opinion.

That said, even US makers turn out a lot of lemons. Check any new gun VERY carefully. Personally, I'd buy only Ruger and S &W revolvers, maybe Manurhin, if they sold here. I'd actually LIKE to buy a Taurus or two, but see so many complaints...

If your gun does well, please say so after you've put maybe 500 rounds through it. You can buy some replacement grips for that brand if you want them. Taurus sells here mainly to those who buy guns based mainly on low price. But amid all the turmoil, some do report good results.

Did you realize that Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorious killed his girlfriend, model/lawyer Reeva Steenkamp, with a Taurus stainless 9mm auto? He could have afforded any brand. The arms embargo on South Africa was lifted many years ago. But I don't know if he knew much about guns.

Pity about Reeva: there are never enough hot blondes in the world.

Their revolvers have never had a very good reputation but lately some
of their semi autos have won some genuine praise. You can check with
the Taurus forum for feedback on your 65 or just shoot it and see.

Never owned one, never will. Fired a few. Not that I know anything inherently wrong about Taurus, but given my experience, there are better options out there, unless that's what you can afford . . .

This is just my opinion. Taurus makes some good guns. The PT92 which is an offshoot of the Beretta 92 family tree. Any revolvers based on designs originating from the time Taurus and S&W were holding company kissing cousins. Other than that, it's a mixed bag.

I had a Taurus .357 along time ago that I used for Practical pistol shooting. It had a major timing problem, always hit off center. The gun went back to Taurus 3 time and always came back with the same problem, I took the loss and bought a 6" GP100 .357 and never looked back.

i have a Taurus Raging Bull 454 Casull, i bought it when they first came out and it was the only player in the double action 454 Casull market. i still have the gun today, and after many many hundreds of full power handloads,it still shoots fantastic. now being that its a Taurus, im very impressed indeed, in my opinion it is a fine gun.

I love my Taurus 45/410 Magnum. Shoots both 45 long colt and 3 inch 410 shotgun shells. So far, so good. Really fun to shoot. Load some double 00 buck and a couple triple 000 buck and a fear Hornady Hollow Point 45 long colt and you have a deadly combination!

I have a Taurus Model 94 stainless steel 22 LR 9 shot revolver. I bought new in 1990. It was the first of the SS 94's. I have put thousands of rounds through it. Not a problem. It is the only Taurus I own.

Just my humble $.02. I only needed to own one Taurus, a model 85. Within one month, I needed to change all the springs in it. It still offered light primer strikes consistently. The dealer took it back for a complete refund. Unless you plan on using any Taurus for range only use, please don't buy it. They are completely unreliable. Relying on one for safety is questionable judgment. Ever notice that Taurus offers lower priced copies of popular revolvers and semi-autos ? Makes you wonder how they cut costs . BTW, Google the current recall of over one million pistols by them. If you can, consider even a used Smith & Wesson or Ruger revolver or pistol on layaway. Your safety will be enhanced and your money will be well spent

Every company no matter how good is going to have some lemons. It's a fact. That being said I stick to those where lemons tend to be on the rare end. Having a model 13 and a 66 I could probably find a Taurus for cheap but why? Even $100 so so gun is still $100 that doesn't have to be spent or put to better use like $100 worth of ammo. Guns can't work without them.

Also "seems ok" is a phrase thay shouldn't be used with firearms that haven't been shot. You can't tell anything by looking

I've owned a couple, one .44 magnum 4" five shot, forgot the model but aside from a stiff action it worked fine. Another was a tiny .22 LR based on the Beretta flip up barrel, which also worked fine. Maybe I was just lucky.
