barbouka,
You ask a valid question. Up until 2005, I bought firearms primarily if I felt like I was going to utilize it in my law enforcement activities.
April of 2005 (04.27.2005 to be exact) I came across a 6" Ruger Security Six that was very similar to the one I had back in 1977.
I knew I would never qualify with it, never carry it on duty, or off duty, I just wanted it. I got it for a good price and went silly, just plain silly after that.
I will buy firearms when they appeal to me. There is no rhyme or reason why they appeal, they just do. It does not matter brand, caliber, action, finish, barrel length, etc, etc, etc.
Last purchase was a Colt Lawman Mark III 4", 357 magnum, nickle plated, and I cannot tell you why I wanted it, I just did.
I do have very soft spot for the older revolvers. But also acquired a Baby Browning (needs to be refinished) just because I think it is just tooooo cool.
I am an accumulator of quality firearms, not a collector of a specific caliber, brand, model etc, etc, etc.
Hope this is helpful.
