I have a 36 (no dash) snubby that I've been doing a lot of dry firing on, trying to smooth it up a little. Like a total idiot I did it without putting snap caps in place, and now the tip of the hammer nose has broken off. Assuming that I can find the part, I can probably swap it out myself. My concern is, if the hammer nose got peened to the point that it failed, is there any likelihood that the rest of the hammer has been compromised as well and might fracture at some future time?
Oh, and if anybody has a pointer to a replacement hammer nose (and maybe the roll pin too), I'd appreciate it.
