dose S&W do anything different with there heat treatment of 38+p vs .357mag? I ask because I have an extra cylinder for a 32 S&W long that I am having reemed to 32 H&Rmag ....I am not reloading +p ammo but looking at a 90gr jacketed hollow core at say 1050fps (16900cup) I am NOT!!! asking for advice if I should do this.....dice has been cast (I still have factory cylinder that came with the gun)...just wanting input from those who have done this....thanks.....Jay

I am having trouble figuring this out. Why would heat treatment on a .38+P vs .357 mag have anything to do with you having a .32 long cylinder opened up to .32H&R mag? In any case I had this done with a Colt DS in .32 S&W long many years ago. My gun maker told me that with the modest pressure difference between .32 long and .32 H&R mag it was no issue and he did it for me. I have shot the gun more than a little since with no issue. I would NOT do this with the .327 cartridge, which is loaded to a much higher pressure.

My thought was did the OP want to know if J frame magnum pressure cylinders are any different than standard pressure cylinders? Heat treat? Alloy?
